2019 Free agency Thread

We don't really have one of these yet, so figured we could use this as a place to discuss potential free agent acquisitions and what we would like to look for them to bring in.

If any of you guys are interested, heres a good place to do some research.

Well..Peters, Ford and Jones look to be almost as good as Tyson Jackson.

I dont care enough to argue this point...If you want to convince yourselves that all GMs are equal...and merely swapping Veach for Dorsey was a 1:1 exchange...have at it.

I dont think this guy is even close...and in over his head. He was a default choice after Andy got pissed about Maclin...and stomped his fat-ass foot in CHunt's office.

I'm kind of rooting for the Browns...Reids a ****ing phony.

****in' Dorsey spending money like a drunk sailor on leave in Cleveland, making decisions on players that 3/4 of CP could pick blindfolded. What a genius!

Meanwhile, the Chiefs have to carefully weigh options, pick wisely, and sign reasonable contracts so that we can:

a) Fix the banking **** ups of the "genius", and

b) Try to keep the same end results of the "genius" from happening again.

We'll see who comes out on top in the draft, that's pretty much the only competition between the two left. Too bad those ****s aren't on the schedule this year though, I'd love to whip their ass in Cleveland again.

We've yet to see Veach run a full draft after having an entire year to implement his system and scouts, yet he has already been branded as a failure and a phony who is "in over his head".

I admit that there is every possibility that he could run a shitty draft and get out-maneuverd by other GM's but until such proof has been established, it is ridiculous to rule him out as a good drafting GM.

You don't have enough data points to establish a trend, but the scant data available does not paint a rosy picture.

You can give him the benefit of the doubt, but don't act like there isn't reason to be concerned.

There's ALWAYS reason to be concerned, that is the nature of the draft. But after analyzing Dorsey's drafts, I'm not exactly pissing in my pants-scared that we've truly lost some kind of GM "Rosetta Stone" either.

So what exactly was so bad about Veach’s first offseason? What should he have done differently?

I don't think anybody would argue that Dorsey is a great talent evaluator, and what he is doing in Cleveland is impressive, eventually you are going to have to pay the piper. It's fairly obvious that Dorsey's handling of finances and personnel issues is what got him fired.

Veach isn't the only one calling the shots regarding draft picks either. Come the **** on people. You don't think Reid has a hand in any of this? JFC.

I believe both Dorsey and Veach are very good GMs just as I believe Elway might be one of the worst GMs in the league, despite his SB win.

I think you guys will be pleasantly surprised by the defense next year. I trust Veach to do well this offseason. He looks like he knows he has to be and can be agressive with all the draft picks that he has, he's not afraid to cut bait with overpaid and older players, he always has in mind a few years down the road, etc. He also knows that anything short of a SB next year will not go well with the fans. He's a good one for sure.

That's right. It's not "GM in a vacuum" over here.

I mean geez, it shouldn't be hard to do. Build an overall competent without insane holes everywhere, run a reasonable scheme, and you'll have a somewhat competent, low end D. That should be good enough to win the SB. Really all they have to do is not be bottom 5 in the league.
