Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay on the Outs?

Quote:
Aaron Rodgers doesn't want to return to Green Bay Packers, sources say
Reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers is so disgruntled with the Green Bay Packers that he has told some within the organization that he does not want to return to the team, league and team sources told ESPN on Thursday.

The Packers are aware of his feelings, concerned about them and have had team president Mark Murphy, general manager Brian Gutekunst and head coach Matt LaFleur each fly out on separate trips to meet with Rodgers at various points this offseason, sources told ESPN.

"As we've stated since the season ended, we are committed to Aaron in 2021 and beyond," Gutekunst told ESPN. "Aaron has been a vital part of our success and we look forward to competing for another championship with him leading our team."

Rodgers has not budged this offseason, but neither have the Packers, who have made it known they are not interested in trading Rodgers anywhere.

The San Francisco 49ers called the Packers on Wednesday night, a source told ESPN, and the Los Angeles Rams inquired about Rodgers in January before they traded for Matthew Stafford.

The Packers quickly dismissed the Rams' overtures, the source said.

The Packers have offered to extend Rodgers' contract, sources told ESPN.

Rodgers is unhappy for a variety of reasons, with some of it dating back to last year's draft when the Packers didn't inform him before trading up to draft a quarterback with their first-round pick. Some took this as a sign that his days in Green Bay could he numbered.

He also is at a different point in his personal life, having recently gotten engaged to actress Shailene Woodley. Rodgers also has hosted "Jeopardy!" and said it would be a dream to become the full-time host. He could play football and host Jeopardy! together.

Rodgers has made cryptic comments about his future in Green Bay, but he has told others that he does not want to return.

On draft night, the Packers' biggest issue isn't who they land, but whether they can keep the former NFL MVP.

Rodgers' contract contained a $6.8 million roster bonus due in March. It could have been converted into a signing bonus that would have freed up more than $4.5 million in salary-cap space for this season but instead it "vested as scheduled," a source told ESPN at the time. It's listed as an automatic conversion in Rodgers' contract but even that has to be signed off on by both parties. It's not known if the Packers tried to convert and Rodgers refused to sign off on it, or if they did not attempt a conversion.

Raiders are now the odds on favorites to land him.

Would love to see Pat and Andy mop the floor with him and Joshy twice a year.

Ghost shits are the best. However often with ghosties you earn a free bidet from bowl splash back, negating the wipe free zone ticket punched earlier.

Jets' Aaron Rodgers blames Packers' Brian Gutekunst for split; QB's agent tried to have GM fired, per report

Aaron Rodgers may retain respect for the Packers organization he led for almost two decades. But he is still at odds with general manager Brian Gutekunst over his split from Green Bay, according to The Athletic. Not only did Rodgers' agent, David Dunn, apparently ask the Packers to fire Gutekunst after the team spent a first-round draft pick on Rodgers' future successor in 2021, but the new Jets QB now blames his former GM for failing to both communicate properly and win his personal approval.

Early in the 2021 offseason, when Rodgers first teased a potential retirement or departure from the Packers, Dunn called Packers president Mark Murphy requesting that Green Bay either fire Gutekunst or trade Rodgers, per Matt Schneidman. The Packers had reportedly attempted to "protect the relationship" between Rodgers and coach Matt LaFleur by telling him the decision to trade up and draft Jordan Love, the Packers' current QB, was strictly that of Gutekunst.

Rodgers didn't buy the explanation -- "They all signed off on it," he told The Athletic -- but proceeded to suit up for the Packers and win a second straight NFL MVP in 2021. But he didn't deny the suggestion that Dunn demanded Gutekunst be fired, deferring to his agent, who did not respond to The Athletic's request for comment.

From that point forward, publicly seeking more input on the team's direction, Rodgers said his communication with Gutekunst improved, but only to a degree. Singling out Packers executive Russ Ball as "the only member of the front office who took (his) message to heart," Rodgers told The Athletic that Green Bay's efforts to better incorporate his voice "still wasn't anywhere near what I've already enjoyed here with the Jets in just a few short weeks."

The future Hall of Famer's gripes with the Packers don't end there. He added that he believes Green Bay's initial contract offers to star wide receiver Davante Adams ahead of 2022 free agency drove the pass-catcher elsewhere. And he's upset by the fact Gutekunst told reporters this March that he unsuccessfully tried to contact Rodgers "many times" while gauging the QB's future.

The QB and GM had agreed to meet in person while Gutekunst was traveling in Southern California for the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl in late January, per Schneidman, but the two never connected, with Rodgers alleging that he responded to "morning" texts from Gutekunst "(that) night or the next morning or the next day."

"Did Brian text me more than I texted him?" Rodgers said. "Yeah, but did I ghost him? No. I texted him back. There was back-and-forths that we had and so this is the story you wanna go with? You're gonna stand on this hill of austerity and say that arguably in the conversation of the best player in your franchise history, you're gonna say I couldn't get a hold of him and that's why we had to move on? Like, c'mon man. Just tell the truth, you wanted to move on. You didn't like the fact that we didn't communicate all the time. Like, listen, I talk to the people that I like."

After learning that the Packers had apparently been soliciting interest in Rodgers around the league, the QB told Dunn, his agent, to tell Gutekunst that he wanted to be traded to the Jets. And months later, the deal was done.

Uh no one is surprised by this. That GM basically told Rodgers to go **** himself, I'd love to see if you'd say "**** this guy" if in 10 years the Chiefs have a new GM and he tells Mahomes his input isn't needed and "you're just the QB" leading to Mahomes having a public feud with the organization.

I see both sides of the argument in regards to Rodgers and the Packers, just feels like you ignore everything about Rodgers.
