*****The Patrick Mahomes Thread*****

IT ****ING HAPPENED

OP UPDATE:

Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

In the Cleveland game there was a pass to Kelce that simply shouldn’t be possible. Kelce is running upfield with a defender at his hip at an angle towards the same sideline that Mahomes is escaping to, but instead of continuing that oath Kelce basically does a 180 towards the other sideline, completely opposite of where Mahomes is going, but Mahomes still throws it across his body behind the defender to Kelce for a big gain. No receiver should run away from their fleeing QB and no QB should be like “oh that’s perfect” and make such a pass but they do it all the time. There is no defense for it and no other QB that can do it, or other set of receivers that truly understand what he can do which changes how they play.
This is correct.

What I am sure he meant was that all the other games look boring compared to a Kansas City Chiefs game. And to that I agree.

I know I may be in the minority here, but I feel better with Wiz in there with Suh across the line. I'll take our chances with Wylie outside. He kind of looked better outside than in, really. Which isn't saying much.

Damn, that's awesome.

Reminds me of running the option, where the QB is assigned to "block" the end. Here, the QB is assigned to completely clown the unblocked end and still complete the pass.

Crazy stat I heard on 610 today:

During the Mahomes era, the Chiefs win 84% of their games when the opponent scores first. The rest of the league wins 39% of their games in that scenario.

The thing about pressuring quarterbacks is that it’s supposed to work. The thing about Patrick Mahomes is what’s supposed to work against other quarterbacks doesn’t work on him.

Mahomes has been pressured 19 times during the playoffs, according to Sports Info Solutions. On those dropbacks, he has completed 61.1% of his passes for 8.4 yards per attempt, two touchdowns, no interceptions, 7.4 Expected Points Added, and a 52.9% positive play rate (the percentage of plays that produce positive EPA). Quarterbacks aren’t supposed to have positive EPA under pressure.

Sure we’re only talking about 19 dropbacks at the moment and that’s a small sample, but tell that to the Buffalo Bills, who were able to send free rushers at Mahomes in the AFC Championship Game and were completely ripped apart because Mahomes isn’t fair.

I'm guessing Reid and Bienemy will get the Bucs running sideline to sideline early using Jet Sweeps, pitches, screen passes etc to get that front four tired. They basically wore out the 49er's in last year SB and Bosa and that group were gassed in the 4th.

Swear I saw a stat that we have only one loss in games we don’t score in the first quarter.

So poetic that we beat a Niner team with a retread QB with a homegrown stud.
