Some speakers have apps you can use to update the firmware. Did you try and unpair the speaker and reconnect it?

Anybody?
The weird thing is that it used to work on this speaker. I used to set the volume to max and was able to control it with my phone. It seems that the last Andriod update changed that. Even stranger is the fact that I can control the volume on my other devices (car stereo, Dewalt speaker, etc). This is baffling to me. |

What kind of speaker is it? In my personal experience some of them are very easy to use while others are a pain in the ass.
