You should be able to find the serial number and then you can Google how to read that manufacturers serial number and find out.

If it was 1986, I would be calling the builder and installer today. To me, it is like putting a new tire manufactured in 1986, on a car. Wouldnt do that either.

If you can’t see the date on the sticker….you should be able to tell by looking at it.
If it is, I’d not want it due to efficiency reasons….it will last 15 years longer than a new one but your heat bill will be higher. I’ll wager it’s got a patent. Date or something that’s 86. |

This should be easy to verify. Furnaces have to abide by EER ratings etc. so manufacturers are often updating model numbers etc.
