FedEx asks Redskins to change name

Here we go. I think part of the reason we’ve been safe from this kind of stuff is because the Redskins have always been a bigger target. Now that there’s pressure from sponsors Snyder is going to feel the heat like never before.

If they go down, make no mistake, the mob will come for us next.

I'm glad they're changing their name. I never for a second thought about the 'Redskins' like that, but on reflection, I can see how it has a clear racist underpinning. And I don't see why there's any need for that to continue to exist.

As for the Chiefs, I'd be sorely disappointed if we lost the team name and I'd think it was going too far. Ditto-ish for Arrowhead. I've always disliked The Chop - more from a dislike of FSU than anything else - and I'd happily sacrifice that.

Some of these things will cross the boundary into clear ridiculousness. The 'cancel culture' is hardly going to bat 1,000. But it's creating discussion about things we've just blindly taken for granted as the acceptable norm forever. That has value in and of itself.

I'd much rather be 'woke' and open to seeing the other side of things than blindly narrow-minded.

Seen quite a few different rumblings about sex trafficking and cheerleaders.

Wait, so when they decided to do the name change they decided that they might as well clean up cheerleader sex trafficking at the same time? Those seem unrelated.

More like the name change is being rushed for good PR before a really nasty bombshell is dropped. Or at least that's the prevailing theory in DC from what I gather.

Stevie is such a baby.

You can bet your ass if there was a team name that was offensive to Christians he'd be spearheading the charge to get the name removed.
