I seriously found the way it was shot to be so offputting that I basically don't remember anything else about it. Can't remember who the villain was, what he was trying to destroy, who the girl was, anything.

Not only was I (I think) mildly annoyed going into it but I did not recall the events of Casino Royale at all. I just went in pretty cold and enjoyed the harsher Bond that was willing to kill people for no real reason.
I remember thinking, "Yeah. **** that guy. **** that guy too, kill him." Very enjoyable.
