So this makes me think Johnston was also probably asked by the team.

Can teams do that?

I've never heard of a team requesting to have a draft prospect workout with their QB before the draft. You would think that the NFLPA wouldn't be a huge fan of that happening.

Does the NFLPA have anything to even say about players that aren't in the NFL?

Not sure...that's why I asked. I'm guessing it's up to the prospect and his agent.

Why not just call it a private workout but instead of a scrub QB throwing it’s the two time league MVP.

Probably a loophole in the process where the Chiefs say, "You never said we couldn't do this." Tests the waters and puts the ball in the NFLs court to make a decision of legality. I think it's brilliant, test the chemistry early, have Patrick find out who he thinks has the highest upside.

He's not in the union yet. They have no say in it.

Yep, these guys can work out with whoever they want on their own time. Clearly both of these guys (and their agents) see the dollar signs that could come long term being drafted to play with Mahomes under Reid.

Amazing that they're willing to do this kind of stuff. Never would have seen it in the dark times.

Yep, no different than:

Pat: "Hey Zay let's go to the park and throw the ball around a little bit". Whatta ya say?

Zay: "Be there in 5 minutes".

They’ve been doing it forever. I recall a story years ago about Troy Aikman working out with LeFluer and fixing the Cowboys the thumbs up with either he or Gonzalez LOL.

Get ready for the NFL to get all butt hurt over Pat's offseason practices and put a stop to it.

Why couldn't they? Teams have player in for workouts regularly. Why could it not be in Texas instead of KC?

Considering college players are not covered by the NFLPA it doesn’t make sense either
