The Motorcycle Discussion Thread
I figure there are some motorcycle guys/gals on CP, so I thought we could have a place to talk all things Motorcycles.
Tire Mount and Balance Prices (as of 10/29/16) Prices based on if you remove the wheels yourself and bring the wheels and new tires with you: Cycle Gear - $35 per wheel if you buy tires from them. $58 per wheel if you buy tires elsewhere Rawhide - $65 per wheel (assuming it would be the same at other HD dealers. they book it at 1/2 hr per wheel) C R Cycle Tires (DeSoto) - $30 per wheel Cheapest I've found my Michelin Commander II's. Seem like they have good prices on other brands too. http://www.jakewilson.com - Free 3 day shipping on orders over $75 Last edited by Dayze; 10-29-2016 at 09:02 PM.. |

Looking good.
what is the PITA (pain in the ass) factor on that job? I have grips, and internally wired bars / wire/cable extensions coming up this winter. I can't remember; but was it you that went down a month or so ago? maybe I'm thinking of someone else. Last edited by Dayze; 10-22-2014 at 01:53 PM.. |

For anyone considering a HD, or has never ridden one, but don’t necessarily want to jack with dealing with salesman all day….. Harley Davidson Demo Rides Where – Gail’s HD in Grandview, MO When: Friday – 10am – 3pm Saturday – 10am – 3pm Sunday (yep! New law passed allowing dealerships to now be open on Sundays in MO); 11am – 3pm I’ve never done a demo ride event for HD before, however I have for Kawasaki and it was great. Ride any model, as many as you want. And I wasn’t in a situation where I had to interact with a salesman all day, etc. It was nice to ride so many models, and not have someone trying to sell you a bike the entire time. If you’re looking to test ride, demo events are the time to do it! (still kicking myself that I missed the Indian event a few weeks back) This isn’t a factory ride event, but Worth is having a 2015 Open House This weekend. Sometimes these events are chaotic enough where you can get in a ride on a few bikes and not have a salesman attached the entire time. Where: Worth HD (KCMO) When: Saturday 9am – 6pm between 11am – 2pm, kids get a free pumpkin to decorate. Also – a chili cook-off is also happening. Bring in by 10am, judging to start by 10:30am. There are prizes, just not sure what they are) Looks like there is also free hot dogs (which is always a bonus lol) |

So those Demo rides.
Are they in a parking lot? Or do you get to cruise? If you get to cruise is it a group ride? Interesting |

when i did the Kawasaki demo ride a few years back, you basically got on to whatever bike you wanted to ride, and then left as a group with a ride leader and go for a quick ride / loop to/from the dealer.
it's been a while, but I think it was probably a 20 minute ride or so (based on the route that they had). i came back, and rode another. I road the Concours that day, and Vulcan for the hell of it. the Concours was bad ass (FTR) i've also test ridden bikes, not part of a demo event, and it was basically me and a guy from the dealer leading the way on a route. both of those scenarios, I was pleased that the lead rider wasn't just pussy-footin' the bike around. I should also note, that you need a motorcycle endorsement on your license.
if you don't have a helmet, i wouldn't sweat it - I test road at Rawhide on a whim while browsing around (didn't ride my bike up there), and they gave me a loaner helmet.(even though KS doesn't have a helmet law). but, I would call first just to double check (especially considering both places are in MO and MO is a helmet law state for anyone not already aware) Last edited by Dayze; 10-22-2014 at 01:52 PM.. |

Heres my 2014 Harley Street Bob in Hard candy voodoo purple. It has the roland sands slant exhaust, roland sands turbine air cleaner. Replaced the console with all LED gauges, and just put on the 12" road 6 custom z bars. I think its coming along nicely. Not the best picture, its off my phone.

I really like the bars. Are those 12". I'm going with 14"s th is winter, with a style very similar. What did the bars run you, if you don't mind me asking?. I've been looking hard at Wild 1 Outlawz apes.

Ya they're 12". I paid $160 and the quality is up there with $250 bars I've previously had on other bikes. Super comfortable, and easy to install. I went with 12" so I wouldn't have to change my cables

When I was installing these, I noticed that I may have had enough cable for 14's, but I think they would have been stretched a little to much. But the difference between these and the stock 10" bars is definitely noticeable. More than I thought they would be. Puts my hands a little above my shoulders.
