I trie to trade down 4-5 spots but couldn't get a suitable deal. I just gave up.

So here's a mock built around the idea of taking Freiermuth first.
The key thing here is, if you do this you are changing your starting personnel. KC shifts to a team that runs 12 personnel as its primary personnel grouping, rather than 11. 31. Pat Freiermuth, TE, Penn State 70. (trade) Walker Little, OT, Stanford 94. Quinn Meinerz, C, Wisconsin-Whitewater 136. Paulson Adebo, CB< Stanford 144. Wiliam Bradley-King, DE, Baylor 157. (trade) Richard LeCounte, S, Georgia 176. Khalil Herbert, RB, Va. Tech 180. Dez Fitzpatrick, WR, Louisville 256. Wyatt Hubert, DE, Kansas State You'd have to address a starting DE AND at least a fill-in LT in free agency. But I could see something like this being a logical evolution of the Chiefs-Reid offense, considering what teams are trying to do to Mahomes. In Freiermuth, you gain a TE who is an excellent blocker and who can be a real weapon in the middle of the field. Running a 12 set as your primary offense, whether from shotgun or under center, would set KC up to really take advantage of teams dropping two safeties deep and dictate the matchups. It all pins on how you evaluate Freiermuth, though. Is that someone ready to kick in Day 1 and play starters snaps? Is he as good as a receiver as thought? |

I like this draft but I just don't see Reid making such a radical change.

I'm done a bunch of mocks and just trying this out. I went with 3 OL because Chiefs needs more support up front.

ran one de-emphasizing OT as some of y'all think just to see what happens.
I guess if we went this route, they'd sign someone like Jason Peters to hold down the fort until Fisher gets back and start Niang at RT. If those things happen, this draft is pretty killer. KC 51. Terrace Marshall Jr. WR LSU Sammy who? KC 63. Rashad Weaver EDGE Pitt KC Should be a solid LDE with plus pass rush capability. Spags prototype. 74. Creed Humphrey OC Oklahoma Best interior lineman in the draft probably. Day one upgrade. KC 86. Joe Tryon EDGE Washington pass rush specialist in '21; Clark replacement down the road. KC 136. Austin Watkins WR UAB Another guy with similar skillset/physicality to Watkins KC 144. Divine Deablo S Virginia Tech Big, physical safety to finally upgrade the DD spot in this defense. KC 147. Paulson Adebo CB Stanford Spags prototype length and athleticism. KC 176. Jaylon Moore OT Western Michigan Is he a LT at this level? Probably not. Should be a good OG with the potential to play outside later. KC 180. Tre McKitty TE Georgia Really good receiver, decent blocker. A weapon to pair with Kelce/insurance policy. KC 256. Kayode Awosika OT Buffalo Reid likes to take college OT's and move them to guard. That's likely what happens here. |

That's actually a really good draft and somewhat realistic I think.

Humphrey's almost a certain thing at this point. Weaver and Tryon should upgrade the pass rush and allow Clark to actually take some breaks. Marshall and A. Watkins both have a lot of potential at WR. Then you've got two Tyreek style burners and two Sammy style 'X' types. Deablo I like a lot. Plus, I mean, his ****ing name is Devil. You gotta like that for a head-hunting dimebacker/box safety. If you're going to replace Dirty Dan, let's do with the ****ing devil. And then after every time he de-cleats some poor soul in the flat, they can play SHOUT AT THE DEVIL over the Arrowhead sound system. I think Tre Mckitty is kind of undervalued. He's a little leaner than Kelce, but he's also faster. Still a willing blocker, but an actual weapon in the passing game. shrug... Last edited by Chris Meck; 02-11-2021 at 08:21 PM.. |

I like Deablo too being a Hokie fan. I mocked him to us in my first go round. I see him as a more of a playmaker than head hunter of the Kam Chancellor mold....but he definitely could be a good replacement for Sorenson

Agree. He definitely fits that hybrid 3rd S/WLB role well.
