I feel like maybe they’re grooming him to be kelces replacement or backup. Not TE2. I’m hopeful Wiley can one day be TE1 but I like gray way better as TE2 if that makes sense. And fortson is a better option as TE3 because if you go into 13 personnel you want an exceptional run blocker. So in a weird way while he’s the guy whose upside I like most, I also don’t know that he has as much of a place just yet while kelce is on the field.

At the very least hopefully dhop helps us rely less on kelce so we can start load managing. Wiley could be a very nice option to do that the next 2 years

The Chiefs haven't re-signed Donovan Smith, who started last year, and Bakhtiari is a much better player.

The health question marks are obvious, but the Chiefs could handle Bakhtiari missing six or seven games if he's healthy enough to play from November on.

He also did an interview after being released saying he prefers to only come back once fully healthy and only if he feels he can perform at top level. In the same interview he talked about how he wants to win the “ring that’s been so elusive to him over his career”.

Probably an unpopular opinion but I like Mike Williams. I know he has fallen off but when he was on the chargers I remember he caught every ball thrown his way. It was if a magnet was on his gloves.

I wouldn’t give much for him. But I wonder if they have thought about it? Getting away from Rodgers would improve anyone’s morale

If they needed TEN to eat cap to make the Hopkins trade that tells me the Chiefs are likely out on any high dollar player.

The chiefs can restructure jawaan Taylor to free up money. They got tenneseee to eat cap because they were eager to move Hopkins and the chiefs are a unique suitor that can handle the injury risk. From the sound of it the chiefs were going after Adams and cooper too so I don’t think they’re shy about making a splash for the right player and only if it meets their terms

Wiley will never be a TE1...and for sure he will never be Kelce. (Yes I know you are not inferring that)

Once Kelce retires we will need to get used to having Gray and Wiley with Gray being a secondary target for Mahomes.

If Wiley was really good he would have already supplanted Gray as the TE2 IMO.

The one argument to this is they need dudes Mahomes trusts and has chemistry with and Gray is that guy. Wily has the attributes to be a TE1 but needs to put it together.

There's a near zero chance they insert a new LT into this offense at this point in the season.
