Prine beat cancer twice. He was a tough old bird. I loved the humor and simplicity of his songs. It's hard to write amusing songs and not be considered a novelty act. His words were always plain and direct and colorful. And his guitar playing was like listening to a music box. An old saying comes to mind about his passing:
"Dont be sad. What a life he had If he were here today He wouldn't cry or pray He'd give you his gitar And ask you to play." |
