Nick Bolton

I haven’t seen a LB play this bad for the Chiefs since…idk. Not even Anthony Hitches was this bad.

Slow, missing tackles, worthless in coverage.

Please Veach do NOT pay this guy

Chenal on the other hand looked like our best LB and maybe the most improved player on the whole team.

No one wanted to pay Willie Gay… he’s on a one year deal with the Saints.

Hard to figure.

Improved since when? He was incredible last year, especially in the playoffs.

I just mean he's an ascending player that might be our most improved looking back at the end of the season.

He's shown it, but not consistently. Coming out week 1 with a game like this after Gay leaves is different.

IDK. There isn't a DC in football who owns Lamar like Spags.

I think Henry is close to washed but has some gas.

Overall I thought it was a pretty solid-to-good defensive performance against a fairly stacked team that has some transitional issues on the OL.

I was please, because I thought Williams and Watson were going to be liabilities early and often.

Not worried about the linebackers. No one got hurt or spent the offseason eating McDonalds. They will get their shit squared away.

They just kept targeting Bolton over and over again. They purposefully singled him out.

You guys remember the game in Cincy in 2021 when Burrow targeted Bolton the whole game and embarrassed him?

Yeah I’m worried that’s coming next week

Some of you only come here to criticize. He played a bad game in week 1, big deal. Still one of our best players and one of the best in the league in his position.

I like Bolton but last night was BAD.

It wasn't that he looked slow, because he did, but generally Nick is very smart and takes good steps at the pre snap and is in good position because of that. He looked like he was lost on every play. The mis-direction plays to the backs in the flat he literally bit on the mid-direction EVERY TIME. Cost us getting them off the field both times. And that's on him alone.

Dru was equally as bad.

But also, Spags didn't start spying with Leo until the 4th.

We absolutely do miss Gay. I don't care what anyone says. We don't have a super athletic backer to use right now like we did with him and that showed up last night when we needed an athletic spy on Lamar.

He looked bad, I agree. The Lively whiff in the 4th was embarrassing. I hope he can turn it around soon.

I don't miss Gay at all. Spags will get them playing better. Bolton will be our new CP whipping boy because Mizzou!

And the defensive backs on that play almost seemed to quit on it. It was just a weird play.

But it started with Bolton lost in coverage again. As he was most of the night.

Pretty rough performance.

He missed most of camp (damn near all of it) and looked it. He wasn't up to football speed and he wasn't in football shape.

He looked like a rookie out there trying to think his way through the game. It's was odd to see from a veteran with the number of snaps and responsibilities he's had out there.

He'll improve. And if you can win a game like that with him playing as poorly as he did (and Harbaugh spotting/spamming it), you're in nice shape.
