I couldn't swim until I was like 14 and Boy Scouts forced me to learn. My one and only near death experience was jumping into an 8 foot deep swimming pool and damn near drowning.

I’m glad you learned at some point. Google says 320,000 people worldwide drown every year.

I know it’s a leading cause of death in children under the age of 4. It may actually be THE leading cause.

Me either. I have swam a shit load. Swimming pools, Lakes, Oceans. etc.

Ok, wtffffff. I never in a million years would have guessed it to be that high.

Now I see that people out there just lived very different lives than me. Like Pepe, we grew up swimming anywhere: apartment swimming pools, community swimming pools, lakes, ponds, rivers, creeks, oceans.

I remember being like 9, 10 years old living up North. The day the pool opened for summer was an important event. There’d be a group of us waiting, watching as the apartment maintenance man checked the water to make sure everything was good. He’d say “OK, pool’s open” and we’d all take off and jump in like madmen…… Ah, good times….
