Chiefs can’t afford to do that which is why he’s being traded. Veach knew this decision was coming and unfortunately the right thing is taking Jones over Sneed every time. Once Jones got that deal the decision had been signed and sealed. The delivery part comes next when the trade goes down.

So if you’re Veach what do you do? Your options are tagging and trading him for whatever you can get, or not tagging him at all and getting nothing for him when he walks as a FA and signs with another team. Veach is playing chess here which is what’s required to be a successful GM in the NFL. It’s a product of his unbelievable drafting and the Chiefs amazing success. Bottom line is that once Jones was resigned this was inevitable. They tagged Sneed first for optics and protection.

Yeah, if he plays on the tag and that knee concern is real, then his value is down. Way down.

He could also just have a bad season.
