Breeland gone...can Ward be next...please?

Breeland was at least a physical corner. He also rarely got out ran. 35 has neither of those attributes and is somehow STILL on this team. Look at any stat tracker for defensive holding and defensive PI and who's names are front and center? Breeland and Ward. They are drive extenders. Ward NEVER turns his head around. Anyone who has spent ANY time at ANY practice has heard coaches repeatedly say once the ball is in the air, play the ball...not the man. I am positive Ward has been ill for everyone of those practices since Pop Warner. Stated simply, he is slow, cannot help himself from holding and lacks basic football knowledge of how to play the position. I am constantly amazed at how he stays employed at all as an NFL player. I am hoping beyond hope that Sneed takes Breeland's job and we find ANYONE to take 35s spot. I do not care who the Chiefs do or do not get to rush the passer, as long as 35 is in the game, 3 and 5 or longer is almost automatic for the opposing offense.

What do people make of Fenton. I don't hear him mentioned loads but he looked decent on snaps I saw. He has the best coverage grade for us in PFF (I know, I know).

Solid in limited snaps. Decent size, showed some instinct. Sneed, Ward and Fenton with HB taking some nickel snaps is probably better than what weve trotted out most years.

I think we're in a good spot at CB, I'm not sure I understand all the hand-wringing.

Sneed is a stud, Ward is a good starter. Fenton has looked good in the slot. Then you have former first rounders in Baker and Hughes that you need to see what you've got. Baker looked good late last year before the leg break. Then you've got Keyes who didn't play much last year because of everyone ahead of him.

I mean...to develop young talent they have to play. I really feel like we're 4 deep in guys I'm confident in along with two question marks. But that's a pretty good spot to be in.

Yep.

if Baker OR Hughes pan out (let alone both of them) the Chiefs have the ability to let Ward walk if the asking price is too high and still be reloaded at the position. There's going to be a lot of this going forward. The team needs to replenish not only talent around Mahomes but youth as well. That helps ensure the window stays wide open.

Yes, Sneed is a stud. Some say the best CB in the 2020 draft. If I had to make myself have any kind of a concern, it would be about his durability. He had the broken collar bone plus had to leave a playoff game due (believe AFCCG) due to a concussion. But I may be reaching there.

Totally.

A part of keeping the window open is that you have to keep developing young talent, especially at expensive positions like CB.

You can't develop the kids if they never see the field. That's why I'm totally fine with NOT signing a high priced WR this year; we need to see if Calloway and Powell can play. We know what Robinson and to a lesser extent Pringle are. Hardman needs to develop more, too.

If you just go sign high priced free agents, sooner or later you end up in cap hell.

Churn and burn, baby.

Ward walks next year and we'll get a 3rd probably.
