It's interesting how it varies in the metro area. Some parts are expensive like Golden and my area in central Denver, but other parts are surprisingly inexpensive. It's old information, but I did a study about ten years ago to look at housing prices in the metro area, and I was shocked at how low the median home sale price was for the metro area. I started digging in, and all the new development out by the airport was driving the price down immensely. There was lots of new home construction and it was less than half the price per square foot of central Denver. I don't know what prices are now, but with the train to downtown and the airport I thought it made a pretty compelling case to buy there.

But yeah, if you want to buy in Golden or central Denver, bring the riches of the kingdom with you.
