I wonder if there's a documentary about that line of thinking. Last edited by Direckshun; 03-06-2019 at 03:57 PM.. |

You should come work in the government-funded windmill factory. Maybe the fiberglass flu would burn some sense into you.

Part of me wonders if the whole flat earth thing wasn't started by the gubment just to make a point of how stupid some conspiracy theorists are and make them all look bad.
I do believe in a number of them myself but damn guys, there must be some line you're willing to draw... |

It is harsh and all these green nuts have no idea it is going on. They whine about the oil companies and their windfall profits, completely oblivious to what is actually going on in the real world.
The windmill manufacturers pump millions of dollars into climate change research that 1) invariably "proves" we need hundreds upon hundreds more windmills and 2) gets reimbursed by the federal government in the form of "green energy manufacturing subsidies". One executive jokes that they actually GET PAID to open new factories because they receive enough subsidies to cover the cost PLUS some. The company is operating almost purely on profit, they have so few expenses. Meanwhile, my buddy and a dozen of his co-workers get let go at the end of their 90-day probationary period because they're "not needed" and they just managed to miss their chance at health insurance by a few days. They have fiberglass burns on their knees, elbows, wrists, and neck due to poor working conditions but of course, nobody is going to pay for it. Ironically, even though they "weren't need", their replacements were hired in the few days following and those replacements were let go at EXACTLY the same point in their probationary period. Now they're sick and have no health insurance too. My buddy tries to apply for unemployment and COBRA but is informed by the government that he's not eligible because he didn't complete his probationary period. His only recourse is to sue, which is continuously obstructed and eventually arbitrated (by the federal government, imagine that) into a small settlement to try and cover his bills. The government slaps the manufacturer with a couple hundred grand in fines, which is easily recouped by the millions they are getting in subsidies. More people get hired, more people get sick. What's more, the workers there have tried to organize multiple times and have gotten nowhere. It seems the local chapter of the UAW, as well as other labor unions, have a 3-way handshake deal with the windmill companies and the federal government that they won't "get in the way of progress". It's the absolute height of hypocrisy, corruption, and exploitation. All things that these leftists only care about when it's convenient for whatever political narrative is expedient. |

A lot of the folks in this thread have made hay with the actual research the flat earthers attempted at the back of the film. But how much actual science, other than that experiment, is in the documentary? Zero. How on earth do flat earther podcasts and vlogs record hundreds and hundreds of episodes? It's not by talking science. Just like your post doesn't talk science. It talks politics, and conspiracies, and cabals behind the curtain trying to trick you, subdue you and the bodypolitic, so that they can have their ways. They do not talk the science, they talk the scientists. They do not talk about studies. They overwhelmingly talk about monied interests brainwashing us and the gullible fools who aren't brave enough to stand in their way. They almost never talk about science. Watch the documentaries. Read their websites. Listen to their podcasts. Or just re-read your post, which makes fair points about people being treated like shit and about how there is money to be made in renewable technology. But it doesn't really make any kind of scientific argument. But if those concerns are guiding your doubt about man-made climate change, or vaccines, or the shape of the earth, and not the science (the fact is, the overwhelming consensus among climatologists is that climate change is happening thanks to mankind), then you are not disputing the science. You are literally a conspiracy theorist -- on this issue, at least. |

Defleckshun hates me and is too much of a pussy to ever respond to any of my posts, but for the benefit of everybody else who reads his drivel, or any of the other SCIENCE! fanbois, note that none of them responded to this:

I have a tendency to neither agree nor disagree with a model based on actual data collected over .00000000000000000001% of the Earth’s history.
That’s not being a conspiracy theorist or a blind believer. That’s thinking like a normal human being. |
