Who should go into the Chiefs Ring of Honor in 2025?

Tamba is going in this year btw. Pretty interesting choices to be had here.

haven't there been years when no one was put in the Ring? I thought they didn't in 2020 (COVID year)?

Save it for a transcendent player.

A lot of Chief fans cant recognize some of the this names. I googled it one time at halftime. Many had 3-4 good years and they are on the ring. We are going to run out of space when this era is over

If I had to remove 1/4 of them, it wouldn't take me more than 10 minutes.

At 1/3 some of them might start to get a little difficult.

But c'mon, Hall, Anders and Grunhard shouldn't be on there. T-Rich is a reach, IMO. Gary Spani just existed for awhile and did very little on bad teams. ****ing Steadman. Hedrick gets in on his time in Dallas. Jerrel Wilson is a goddamn punter.

Some of the old timers can sell me on Podolak, I guess. He seems like a mascot more than anything. Mike Garrett had one good season in KC. Burford is laughable. Abner Haynes had a 3 genuinely decent seasons and we mostly sucked anyway.

There's some real chaff up there, to say the least.

There's two ways to approach the Ring of Honor, and it really seems like an Either/Or situation.

EITHER

1.) The Ring of Honor is essentially rewarding popular Chiefs lifers... We see this from a number of guys who weren't necessarily the biggest contributors but were really popular with fans and had their time in the sun when this franchise was either living off of past achievements or was in playoff purgatory. This includes guys like Kimble Anders and Dante Hall [Outside of 02-04 was forgettable], guys who don't necessarily have the most production or longevity but were favorites among fans.

OR

2.) We need to actually have statistical and effectiveness standards. This means realistically that probably 20% or so of the Ring doesn't really belong in it (Not going through all of them, just a guess), as we were just putting people in that reminded us of our glory days for a while there.

I think you have to view it as Option 1, because if you don't, the lack of standards becomes befuddling. At least that's what I've personally come to terms with.

Also Option 1 is the only way that I can justify Colquitt getting in and I REALLY want to see Colquitt get in.

Probably.

Of this era, you have a few guys that are obvious. Mahomes, Kelce, Jones. Not to mention Reid and very possibly Spags. Butker, 'problematic' beliefs and all, absolutely belongs up there.

Then you have guys like Bolton and Creed who are well on their way. Possibly McDuffie. Maybe Mitchell Schwartz (not long enough here) and Eric Fisher (not good enough; similar to Grunhard in that regard)?

I think what I want to see is 6-8 years in KC at/near the top of your position during a successful era. So even Hali, who's time here ended with a thud, was very successful during a period that the defense was quite good most of the time. I think he belongs. I think DJ belongs.

Hill and his 6 years here is right at the fringe. Is he a shoe-in? No, I don't think so. But he's got a HELL of a lot better case than Kimble Anders or Dante Hall.

He may just end up getting squeezed out by the fact that there are going to be more great candidates going forward than there was when those guys got in.

Jet Chip Wasp makes him a Chiefs legend. I'd vote him in.

The modern NFL business model causes some players to move. It's harder to hold changing teams against people now.

Anyone that thinks Eric Berry shouldnt get into the Ring of Honor is just butthurt that he got paid and then was a shell of his former self. He was voted into the Pro Football HOF All Decade Team (2010s). He has 3 1st team APs, 5 Pro Bowls. If he didn't get cancer, then that dude is a Pro Football HOFer, because the AVG DB in the HOF has 3 1st team AP, 7 Pro Bowls, and 13 years starting in the league. He just needed the longevity.

He was probably the best safety this team has ever had.

I hate the fact that a guy like Pacheco is more likely to gain access to the Ring of Honor than Charles or Priest simply because he had the great fortune of playing with Mahomes.
You name 4 that are worthy and deserving. There are others that are also. The next 3 were very good but not HOF/ROF worthy. Just because they were good/the best on shitty teams doesn't earn them a place. Being on a great team doesn't earn you a place either. Pacheco is about a decade away from even being talked about, who knows how he turns out.
