I think the tone and subject matter might drive some popcorn-type money away. It might also catch heat because mental illness is a pretty hot button issue at the moment. But it looks like it does it right. Shit looks heavy as hell. |

Not because it isn't a well made, deep-dive character study that aptly probes the darkness but because of it. |

I'm not sure where all the praise is being generated from that trailer. It gave no insight into the story line what so ever.

This honestly doesn't really look very good to me, but I've never liked the joker as much as the masses.
I liked Bane better than the Joker. |

Kind of like, even when Guns and Roses was putting out the pinnacle of Sunset Strip Hair Band Metal, there was a huge lurking appetite for muted gritty garage band Nirvana. Today's superhero movies are about the best they've ever been, but there's a burnout eventually on even the sheer perfection and strenuously curated awesomeness. And an appetite for grit and grime and pathos creeps in. |

Teaser trailers rarely do. It’s all about generating tone and general vibe. A longer more story detailed trailer will appear a few months down the line.

That said, The Killing Joke gave him a backstory and it managed to be one of the best Batman stories ever written so... I think a whole movie of him becoming the Joker is pretty unnecessary, but I love Joaquin Phoenix and the trailer looks good so I'm in. Of course I'm the kind of fan that likes when movies do crazy stuff with established characters. All that matters to me is if it's a good movie or not. |

This is definitely ripping off Scorceses ‘The King of Comedy ‘
Except DeNiro is playing the Jerry Lewis role now. |

This feels strangely disconnected from the DC universe...

Good final trailer. Warner Bros seems VERY confident in this one (premiering it at the Venice Film Festival). Here's hoping it delivers!

Perhaps Im confused by the "DC" label, but is this Batman's Joker? This seems unrelated, and I was sort of under the impression Joker's origin story was intentionally never determined.
