That seems impressive that a low life org like us that we landed someone 2 years removed from the top executive on baseball. So why is not a good thing? He didn't really build those teams or what? Why are you down on a guy 2 years removed from executive of the year awards?

Contracts are both up for Mo and the idiot manager net year, right?

Why isn't this a situation where Dewitt hires this guy to do the deep dive into what's wrong with the minors? Who's the problem? What needs to be implemented.

Then in 2025 Bloom becomes GM and he brings in his own manager and minor league staff thats on board with his modernization of the minors?

I wanted Mo gone like 4-5 years ago. So him not being fired sucks big time but we wanted Pioli gone years before he was actually fired.
Zaidi won it. And got fired today. Mo didn't and kept his job.

As for the rest - it's all bullshit.

It's the public face they put on cutting payroll. That's all. They didn't talk about any vision - just a new facility in Jupiter.

They didn't talk about the current big league coaching staff - they just threw Laroque under the bus.

They didn't discuss a strategic vision, just threw out platitudes and wined about the sports media landscape while assuring us that a 'direct to consumer' app (read PPV) is on the way and sports gambling will save the bottom line.

They didn't apologize for stasis. They instead insisted that things are better than we realize.

Everything was bullshit.

And maybe he deserved to lose his job.

Point being that Mozeliak does as well. Publicly and without remorse.

And Shildt deserves an even louder public apology.

Instead we get a Mozeliak farewell tour and inevitable red jacket ceremony.

I think Mozeliak does exactly what the DeWitts want him to do and the intention was for Girsch to eventually take over before the last two seasons occurred leading to backlash.

I think Mozeliak is given a budget and a free hand.

Puppets don't run the presser like he just did.

I think it's Mozeliak that elected to prioritize spending on washed up veterans over player development. I think it's Mozeliak that cut Shildt off at the knees. I think it's Mozeliak that has created a culture of smug infallibility throughout the organization that's led to the open antagonism of the fanbase.

Blow-zo should absolutely wear the mess this franchise is in.

I disagree with regards to the spending on washed up players vs player development. Everything else, sure.

I think the DeWitts being afraid of losing at risk of attendance cratering is why they kept throwing money at half-assed solutions to consistently be around 85-88 wins with the hope of catching fire in September and October.

It’s also bullshit that money is being compromised from the big league roster to invest in minor league infrastructure, but that’s a different discussion.

Also, next season is basically a write off, correct?

And probably 2 seasons after that, yes. If you're extremely lucky and there are no setbacks with any of the developmental pitchers, you might see a return to legitimate relevance in 2027.

But this season and next? Eh, nothing worth noting.

Ownership has established that they're working with a hard cap. So no reinforcements of note are on the way.

Oh they could maybe sneak in with the 2nd wildcard next season - all you have to be is 6th best in a 15 team league. So slightly above average. It could happen.

But it probably won't. And if it does, I'll still miss it.

I don't know how to root for a team run by the BD3. He's just such a monumental prick. Good things for the cardinals just make him money. And provide him with some belief in his own greatness. I'm just not excited about that prospect.

Oh I'm going west.

To San Diego.

Mike Shildt winning even a pennant would be just the bees knees.

What a weird transition for someone who should have just been fired. Instead they hire Mo’s replacement and task him with trying to fix the development system that got this way under MO’s watch.
