Also, not for nothing, but neither did the Chiefs execs until 2017. Who did we draft instead of Dan Marino?
Except he said Payton/Paton. Not Denver. Not sure how what other GMs in KC did was relevant to the two people he specifically mentioned.

You should be incredibly thankful that Andrew Luck came out when he did allowing Peyton to go to Denver bc without the 4 years of the Peyton Manning era the Broncos since John Elway minus the 4 years of Peyton are:

163 wins
172 losses
2-5 playoff record

So pretty much what the Chiefs were for 50 years

And Sean Payton. What has Sean Payton done in the last 13 years? 5-7 playoff record. Bounty gate SB investigation.

You could make a case that Sean Payton is a successful version of Todd Haley the last 13 years.

Sure why not talk about him in a Broncos thread on a Chiefs board. Despite 50 years between championships KC is still the superior franchise to Denver in almost every significant metric.

The best part is its confirmed that it was Veach that cucked Payton. Leigh Steinberg has said numerous times Veach was who he had daily contact with in regards to Mahomes and he even stated he told Veach who else was interested in Mahomes.

Veach deserves a ton of credit for hitting on Nick Bolton, Rice, Humphrey, Smith, Karl, and three or four corners, but you have to admit that the team has been hard-carried by guys who were there before Veach took over (Reid, Mahomes, Kelce, and Chris Jones).

Having the best playoff DC in modern history doesn't hurt, either.

Veach has had it pretty easy. Has a GM ever been dropped into a cushier job than Veach?

What don't you understand about it's confirmed Veach is the main reason for Mahomes?

Well, if we wanted to we could look at any sample of GMs over the last 40 years and their success drafting QBs. I'd bet there aren't more than a handful that you could say did well. And I'd bet a stack of $100s as tall as I am that the majority drafted poorly.

My point was simply that drafting successful QBs in the NFL is damned hard.

My other point was that I doubt Payton drafted very many QBs during his tenure at NOR, given that he had Brees, so whatever his 'record' in NOR was drafting the 2-3 QBs he picked during that time probably isn't representative of anything in particular.

But if it makes him or you or anyone feel better to think that Payton can't draft, have at it I guess.

With his track record I wouldn't worry about Veach finding a QB.

Your GM on the other hand, other than drafting a corner has done jack shit.

Yeah. HGH Manning picked Horse Face’s dumb ass, and when he fell apart, Horse Face showed his true colors as a horrible talent evaluator and a guy who couldn’t pick a good head coach if his life depended on it
