Dozier does not know how to position a first baseman's mitt to catch a ball in the dirt. The reason the glove is different than other gloves is to maximize the vertical catching area on a ball in the dirt.
He has the glove sideways and tries to catch the ball in the dirt on the rise with a moving glove as if he has Bo Jackson hand eye coordination. If you position the glove right you have about 20 square inches of glove for the ball to hit for a half second. Watching the replay, he had 5 square inches available for a millisecond. I wish we could trade Dozier and O'Hearn to the Rangers or Pirates for a pack of Now & Laters and some Jolly Ranchers. Whatever flavors they got left is fine. Welp, looks like tied for the record is where he will finish. Hard to see him being able to put enough pressure on a sprained ankle to be able to have a decent AB, if he can even walk on it over the next few days. Hell of a season, glad he at least tied for the team record but more impressively, set the catcher mark.

I bet Salvy is hitting in all of these games. Salvy isn't gonna want to sit and if Matheny makes him, then I hope he gets a bible up the ass.

Salvy leads the league in two of the three triple crown categories. Vladdy Jr has zero. Also Salvy has the best caught stealing rate among catchers

Vlad Jr. does have a higher OPS, batting average, and hits and is close in HRs. I would love Perez to win it, but even without Ohtani I don't think he would win.

Vlad, Jr., or Ohtani should win MVP. Salvy should finish top 3 or 4 in voting. It would be cool if he matches LoCain finishing 3rd in 2015.

Salvy has the stats while playing the most demanding position in baseball full time. But, yeah Sho or Vlad will probably win but there is an argument to be made

Not sure he'll have much choice. If it's truly a legit ankle sprain, having him put pressure on it is not that feasible and certainly not a smart idea if it can risk ligament or other damage.

That's about right. Ohtani is doing something we (well, we as individuals have never seen it) haven't seen since Ruth (plus plays in LA). VJ may take the Jays to the post season and has had a great ride. Honestly, I think the media gave Ohtani the award in July anyway. But Salvy has had an amazing year that probably ranks #1 in my mind for Royals individual seasons, all things considered.
