Old People Thread

Hello old people of CP! Do you ever think about wanting to talk about problems you and other old people have? Is this football forum the only place on the internet you know how to get to? Well look no further! This old man thread is here for you to talk about your trials and tribulations.

Have an itch to complain about how the young generation doesn't know what hard work is? Post it in here! Are there some birds that need yelled or do you have neighbors that play music too loud? We'd love to hear about it! Did you fill your diapers and want to complain about the poor quality of Chinese products? Please regale us!

So if you can barely see letters in this thread without zooming in, but refuse to give up your drivers license, we'd love to read what you have to tell us! Come on in, bring your Werther's candy, and folksy tales of how things used to be!

Do you own your home?

Do you plan to live in it your entire life?

At what age have some things started to get a little more inconvenient or difficult at home?

What things (e.g. turning faucets/doorknobs, reaching things, garage or yard work, stairs, bathroom getting off the toilet into the shower etc.) What's tough now?

I;m 54 and going into the attic to get holiday decorations or other storage things is a pain in the butt now. Walking around up there hunching down (because it's 5' high) almost always throw out my back.

I am on my 4th set. I highly recommend blue tooth rechargeable ones if you are planning on getting some.
They literally changed my life. The normal run of the mill ones help, but these are amazing with the blue tooth.

I had never had one because I've never had chickenpox, but at my regular checkup the doctor said that nearly everybody is exposed to chickenpox even if they never showed up with any symptoms. Since I'm 60 now, they said I should get the vaccine and I hear that shingles are good to avoid, so here I am.
I got the shingles vaccine last year. (I'm 62).

A colleague of mine who is 68 hasn't had the vaccine, and believes he has shingles now.

The shots knock you out, but it's infinitely better than the disease.

I think my wife has those. When her phone rings, it goes straight into her ears. What advantages do you see?

I’ve had a 65% hearing loss in both ears since birth. Never knew any different. Got hearing aids about 30-31 or so. Make sure you get the ones that run with an app. You do t know what you have been missing until you hear it for the first time.

You put your TV into them. Anything Bluetooth. With the app you can decide to focus on two different things. You want to hear the TV and be able to hear your wife at the same time. You can set individual setting for restaurants, concerts, libraries etc.

Both at the same time is still better than pushing a hose up your pecker.

Damn. I never even discussed the vaccine until I was in my 50s.

I never even considered the vaccine until three months ago, because I've never had chicken pox. But the doctor said that it's just exposure that can cause shingles, and apparently pretty much every adult has been exposed.

I didn't realize that the chicken pox vaccine wasn't introduced until 1995. I would have sworn that I got vaccinated as a child.
