I don’t spend much time at any of them, just the highlights.
Then I got nothing. What sites do you guys peruse?

Not the subs I follow.... but you have to get away from the default subs.

I think the humor on some of the subs is top notch, especially some of the game threads and major sports subs, such as the Chiefs gif wars.

I thought that too for a while, that they have so many subs about so many different topics, that you can find one that's suitable for you somewhere no matter how you feel about Reddit's ESG scores and the politically-based activist management that results from that. Turns out, it isn't decentralized at all. The place is not only worse than facebook, it's worse than TikTok.

Why, when I was only ever subscribed to video game and sports forums and not even big major ones (I'm talking indie games and minor league hockey team subs), did I always have to see "NEWS FEED" or whatever they called it posts about how Ukraine is so awesome? Russia bad, Ukraine good! You'll get that pumped into your damn skull constantly there even if your only subforum of interest is an obscure forum about how to reload your own shutgun shells for more cost efficient duck hunting. So finally I had enough and I responded, with one comment amongst the 5.4K comments on their latest Russia bad post they make everyone read, to something in their r/news forum that maybe Russia had their reasons. BANNED!!!!!!!!!!!!! SUPPORTING HATE SPEECH! (but how?)

Reddit is a trap. And reddit supports traps. And if you don't outwardly and vocally also support traps, you'll get banned from there so fast cause of violation of DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION POLICIES.

Anyway the gif wars were good you make a point there. And I hope this post wasn't too political cause I was trying to dance around any political topics with it, but that's hard when it comes to discussing hardcore political websites.

Suffice it to say that Reddit isn't for everyone anymore, although in its hey day, it was. OP will probably like it cause he says he likes and trusts CNN. So it's all good.

The difference between FB and Reddit is that FB is a way to keep up with individuals, family and friends. And keeping up with individuals is the only reason I keep an active account with FB.

I've checked that out before. You're right. Earthcam does have some cool views. I came across them because I installed some cameras for them. Mine weren't anything cool though. By "news feed", do you mean r/news? Because you don't have to be part of that... outside of ads (and I never see political ads), I don't see any feeds or anything that I couldn't leave.

There is a lot of good stuff on you tube, obviously depending on what you are into and what you are willing to search out.

And if you spend much time there, it's worth paying for the add free version or blocking the adds, if that's still a thing.

I know the OP said no porn, I find adult comics more entertaining bigger time waste than porn videos.

You are using reddit wrong. Reddit is completely what you make of it.

Everytime someone trashes some platform it usually just turns out they don't know how to use it.

Reddit is great. All kinds of communities and good content to jump into. Discord has a lot of good stuff but its generally for tech savy people and can be difficult to find high quality discords. It can be hard to sort through the noise to signal ratio of YouTube but once you do it can bring you things you are interested in daily.

Geogusser can be fun as far as games go.

KCHistory.org by the KC Public Library has a lot of amazing Kansas City history cataloging a lot of their Missouri Valley Reading Room type content.

Institute for the Study of War is really great and informative.

Just a few off the top of my head.

You guys have no idea who I even WAS on reddit. I was a huge deal. Tons of "followers", which always creeped me out, and always made me think they were politically motivated people that wanted to see everything I ever posted to be able to complain about it for not being left-wing enough. I didn't know most of them. But on reddit, you can be followed by anyone, and you can't block them.

The place is so captured. Zach thinks it's great. I've said enough and everyone knows enough about what Zach stands for so now everyone will be able to make informed decisions from there. I won't say more, cause this is the lounge.

Reddit is not what it used to be, I will merely re-iterate.
