Chiefs making a run at Melvin Ingram

https://chiefswire.usatoday.com/2021...er-hesitation/

Should have just signed the guy when he was here. Likely have to overpay now as Pittsburgh doesn't want to trade within conference.

Given how desperate the chiefs are for ANY production up front, The Steelers might get away with extortion here.

Like everyone else, I do not like how we are playing as a squad. I would rather just take our lumps this season, see where we truly are and address our needs with better draft picks/players.

Of course, they do. Look at who their QB is. That is the real reason they welcome him to their town and #1 fan.

The Chiefs could end up with 5 7th round picks this year (Our pick, Kpass and Williams comps, Durant to NE, Hughes f/Min) If Pit will take one, I don't see the harm.

Yeah let's wave the white flag and waste a Mahomes season over some 5th, 6th and 7th round picks..very smart

Ingram doesn't fix everything, but he's still a good player at a spot of need. If you can do that at reasonable cost, you do it.

As bad as they've looked, they're 3-4. Every AFC team has at least 2 losses. I don't have much hope that Clark, Jones, and Reed are suddenly going to remember that they're pro-bowl caliber players, so we need to get some serviceable guys to play.

Like i said before i think there's potential for both Frank and Chris to improve if they can string some full weeks of practices together and play consecutive games to really get into game shape. If that happens and we get to the Dallas game and they remain the ineffective then i would start to worry then but they just have to get over the stop-start crap their seasons have been thus far imo. Ingram has attitude and having him should only make Chris and Frank's jobs easier so it's a win-win situation really.

If you think we are just one player away you are delusional.
If you want to get into it we have gotten some good players, see Trey Smith and others from mid to late draft picks.
Mods still should put you back into the Romper Room.

Was Suggs a desperate sign in 2019?
Has Suggs came in the off season and left without signing and did we have a losing record at the time and was the defense playing extremely horribly with the least amount of sacks in the league?

No? Then the two situations aren't in any way comparable.

Did they try to get Melvin Gordon this offseason before we had a losing record?

I don't think anyone thinks Ingram suddenly makes this a top ten defense.

Can he move the needle some? Yeah, he can.

If you can get someone to move the needle, you do it, if the cost isn't prohibitive.

Looked like Chris Jones didn't practice due to personal reasons today, any idea what's going on with him?

Yeah and didn't get him. Should have pivoted and got another DE. Now 7 games in they finally want to address it? With a trade for a guy that could have had in the off season? Yeah that's desperation.

Signing Suggs was "put us over the top move", this is a "we NEED to do something to stay relevant" move.

I'm not opposed to it depending on what we give up. But still a desperation move.
