Mike Tomlin gets 3-yr extension from Steelers.

Just breaking now.

Is it me or do the Steelers feel like they are morphing to the Bears from the last 30 years?

He's not a QB guru but I don't know why every coach has to be. He definitely can get a lot out of a team. If the NFL really goes down this private equity route Mike Tomlin is basically going to be the perfect NFL coach. You'll have a front office running things through analytics and buying all the groceries basically, and the coach will be expected to follow the front office and make the most out of the talent he's given.
Harbaugh in Baltimore has been a similar HC, he's just got Lamar now.

I don't know if that's an indictment or a good thing on him though.

If he continues to do what he's already done, he'll get into the HOF.

We're just on the other side of it now, having Pat, but there's just not many elite level franchise QB's and most of the time, you won't have one.

Then you'll just inevitably lose to one in the playoffs.

Bengals, Texans, Chargers, Bills, etc.

How did these teams get to a point where they can compete with the Chiefs? They were bad enough to draft a franchise QB.

Even if you think QB is the problem, it's not getting solved while Tomlin is there finishing middle of the pack every single year.

The Bills traded up for theirs, the Ravens drafted and developed theirs.

You don't have to bottom out.

The issue will be can they id and draft the right guy, which they really haven't done since Big Ben retired but that's just....well that's the norm of the draft and QB's.

The Bills traded up from 12

The Ravens are the only comparable scenario, and they have a RB and QB that can't get them over the hump.

I can't believe the guy that is constantly saying how hard it is to find blue chip players at valuable positions outside of the top 15 needs this explained to him.

Steelers could always trade up from the mid teens or 20's.

Those other teams, while they did draft their QB early, have also sucked alot more and have alot of high draft picks.

Steelers have always been a model franchise at drafting and developing. Until they do it at QB, it won't matter.

Good luck!

I swear to god, nobody flip flops like you. You are constantly talking about how hard it is to get a LT or pass rusher when you're picking late, but you think it's realistic to get a franchise QB without fatal flaws (Lamar) like that?

The issue is....as long as Mahomes and Allen and Burrow are upright, they're likely gonna end up with the worst QB of the group.

It's what the Ravens and other teams are going thru now. I'll be interested to see how the Texans end up this year, seems they might actually be better but take a step back record wise.

Ohh look, a team who did a relatively fast rebuild, drafting a QB #2 overall in the process, and now looks like a contender!

It's almost as if being mediocre makes things SO much harder.

Have to wait and see on the Texans. We've seen some flash in the pan stuff before, especially when a guy kinda defies what his draft profile was like Stroud did.

I'm pro drafting early. It's way easier.

I'm also not sure the Bengals are legit contenders, btu we'll have to have that conversation later.
