What's your longest road trip?

How long was it, where did you start and end, and what did you do on the journey? Were you working on a deadline to reach your destination, or was this merely a journey? Was there a purpose behind it (e.g., moving) or was it purely a pleasure trip?

You may offer different answers for different conveyances. Car, bike, motorcycle, bus, train, freighter, plane, and so on.

Ashburn, Virginia to Scottsdale, Arizona March 16, 2017-March 22, 2017. For my sabbatical and relocation to work on my weight-health.

Took Rt 66 to 81 to the 40 for my first leg to Tulsa in 24 hours.

I stopped in Nashville TN for an hour to tour the city and take a rest, stopped in Memphis TN to eat dinner at Central BBQ, slept in my car several times in Little Rock AK and other small towns before making it to the Flying J truck stop in Tulsa OK for a shower and relax before meeting up at my long dear friends house in Tulsa OK, where I stayed for 3 days Fri, Sat, Sun.

I then left drove past Oklahoma City and hit an Indian Casino before crossing into TX where I won a $500 jackpot on a slot machine.

Drove through boring ass Texas into New Mexico where I spent the night in Albuquerque NM.

Then the next day drove 40 to the 87 through Tonto National Forest and into Scottsdale.

Really enjoyed the drive.

My longest was in 2003 in honor of Harley's 100th anniversary. I put 16,000 miles on my bike in 6 weeks Riding all 4 corners of the U.S.

Starting in San Diego I rode to the top of the West Coast in Washington, traveled across the country to Milwaukee to celebrate Harley's 100th. From there my wife and I eventually rode to Vermont and shot up to Canada and dropped into the North East corner in Maine. From there we journeyed south and went all the way down one side of Florida to Key West and back up the other. Dropped my wife in Tampa and then I proceeded to meander my way back to San Diego

We stopped and saw all our friends and family along the way. We visited numerous parks and interesting sites. My one regret is that we spent too much time in Northern and Western Michigan with family and did not get over to the Henry Ford Museum as it was also the 100th anniversary of the founding of Ford.

We did go to Kitty Hawk and toured Kills Devil Hill in honor of the Wright Brothers 100th anniversary.

Flying - 5 years ago my Wife and I, after years of building up Airline and Hotel points, we booked a Safari to South Africa. The only way we could fly there and use points was to fly around the world. San Diego to LA to Hong Kong (spent a few days there), Hong Kong to Johannesburg. Flying back, Johannesburg to São Paulo Brazil to Houston to San Diego. Around the world in 23 days.

Did about 13500 miles on my Road King a few years ago, in about 5 weeks. Traveling all over the country.

Most exciting road trip was about 80 miles, in a country my team and I got left in. That we were “never” in.

You guys doing these long legs on bikes is the most impressive to me. I was your typical weak ass road trip rider looking for the next pub.

When I graduated high school, my dad took me on a road trip with my Uncle Jim. My uncle played minor league baseball in the international league in the 1950s. We went from KC to Detroit, crossed at Windsor, drove across Canada all the way to Quebec City. Came back through upstate NY, came back across I-80 to Chicago, then to St. Louis and home. When we were back east we visited a bunch of little towns where my uncle had played ball. He still had a lot of friends back there. Really saw a lot of great stuff, and enjoyed the time listening to stories from my dad and uncle. We were gone for about two weeks.

You're no doubt a military man. I passed Quantico numerous times every month the past 10 years while living in northern VA. Gave me the chills each time seeing that statue out .

Red Wing MN to Sebastian Florida in a large moving truck filled to the top with our belongings. Had our big Rottie next to me the whole trip and it was a battle between us for the majority share of the seat. We had an old Kenwood stack stereo between us. He’s eventually push it over far enough for me to smash my fingers on it when turning the wheel. Then I’d yell “DAMNIT NITRO”, and push it back over some so I had room again. He’d sit all the way up, look at me sad to make me feel like shit. Then we’d replay the scenario over every 50-100 miles between there and here. Second best decision I’ve ever made, leaving the frigid north for the beaches of the sunshine state.

My prior software company when I lived and worked in Mountain Veiw CA had an office on Ouellette Avenue in downtown Windsor as our CEO was Canadian and we saved a fortune. I traveled and stayed there often.

A good trivia question: If you drive south from downtown Detroit what country will you be in? Answer is Canada......

Ironically I'm working for that CEO again today in my new job in software sales since April 22nd of this year. 3rd time I've worked for him
