The Motorcycle Discussion Thread
I figure there are some motorcycle guys/gals on CP, so I thought we could have a place to talk all things Motorcycles.
Tire Mount and Balance Prices (as of 10/29/16) Prices based on if you remove the wheels yourself and bring the wheels and new tires with you: Cycle Gear - $35 per wheel if you buy tires from them. $58 per wheel if you buy tires elsewhere Rawhide - $65 per wheel (assuming it would be the same at other HD dealers. they book it at 1/2 hr per wheel) C R Cycle Tires (DeSoto) - $30 per wheel Cheapest I've found my Michelin Commander II's. Seem like they have good prices on other brands too. http://www.jakewilson.com - Free 3 day shipping on orders over $75 Last edited by Dayze; 10-29-2016 at 09:02 PM.. |

I showed a guy at work the pipes I was looking at and he thought I was insane for going with something that resembled the stock pipes so much lol |

The coil and ignition relocation will free up a ton of space in front of the forward cylinder. Right now it looks really cramped, so I'm eager free up that space and show more of the motor (or have it more noticeable). I think with the tank lift/wire hide, speedo relo, and coil/ignition it'll change the look quite a bit. All are surprisingly affordable mods. |

IIRC they limited those motors not just for top end speed but in the first couple of gears, kind of an anti-wheelie programming. Once looped you should notice a big difference in power in first and second.

I rode Motorcycle Drag Racing buddy’s turbo Hayabusa before he sold it. It was fun, made a snarl out of the shorty pipe that commanded every hair within a mile radius stand on end, but I couldn’t get it to go anywhere. Give the throttle a hard twist and it’d just spin the tire like crazy, and the speed you did it at didn’t seem to matter either. It’d smoke the tire as easily at 100 MPH as it would 20.

I've been taking my time getting used to it. There is just so much to love about a bike like that for someone over 6'. Comfortable, handles well, light and fast as hell. My only bitch is really tight cornering and that's it. Oh yea, did I mention it looks awesome too.

I usually just store mine in the garage (not heated) and start it up about every 3 weeks. A guy at the HD dealership the other day said he has a Road King and that I should put it on a charger because the battery will drain too fast because it is always run diagnostics. Said I don't want to have to buy a new battery as those are $170.
![]() Anyone know about that? I do have a trickle charger I bought from Walmart last year. It is for auto, marine, or motorcycle. |
