I could see Jonathan dying saving Steve and Steve gets his woman and camper with 5 kids. No way Hopper dies after his fake death. Can't see El dying, but could see Will dying.

Finally got through the season. Finale was ok. I paused the show with around 40 minutes left thinking the battle wasn't over yet and then they spent 39 minutes on relationships.

Speaking of which, that would be my only complaint about the season. There was so much relationship stuff going on that it would take me out of the show for periods of time. Max & Lucas; Steve & Nancy; Nancy & Jonathan; Jonathan & Will; Will & Eleven; Will & Mike; Mike & Eleven; etc etc etc etc etc etc.

Sounds like high school..

Nah, in all seriousness, I didn't mind so much. The only one that was forced for me was the Will and Mike ordeal.. and to a lesser degree, the gay chick, I guess. I'm not sure what payoff they're going for there. I wish they had killed her off instead of Eddie Munson.

Idk. With a show like this, the relationships are kind of a strength. I prefer the friendships, but, ya know.. they're going to play on the love angles lol

The kids are at the age to think about those relationships. Figuring out where you are and fit with others.

And I understand that. But to me, it seemed like they made the relationship part of it way to much of a focal point. A scene that stands out in my head is the final scene where Mike is talking to Eleven about fighting while she was in her trance in the pizza shop. He made a good speech to spur her on and then just kept going for another 2 minutes to the point where I said "ok, we get it" out loud.

I'm probably just getting old and cranky.

I get that. Will was like "I knew when I saw you that first night in the woods that I loved you. I love you now and I will always love you!" or some shit and I was just like.. barf!

In general, I find romantic relationships between children to be super cringy so I've never liked that part of the show.

Yea, this is the one I'm talking about. It's only 2 1/2 minutes long, but for me it felt like 10 minutes. I just kept thinking "We get it. You love her. Move on now."

I may be a bit tainted because Mike & Will are two of my least favorite characters. "Mike, remember you are the heart. YOU ARE THE HEART!"

Both of them are my least favorite as well. I guess it's because Will spent damn near all of season 1 as a blinking christmas tree light, and Mike is just a whiny little bitch. I care about them so little that I kept forgetting their names.

And when he told him that he was the "heart" of the team, I rolled my eyes and asked my wife why anyone would think that. It was just a stupid plot device that felt too forced and we were just supposed to believe it, just because.

I thought Will was a decent enough character seasons 1 and 2. This season it's like the only direction he got was "be brooding and gay." We get it. Why don't they pull that love story off like the Popular kid and the bean pole girl? Now that I think about it the stoner brother has about as much range as Keanu without the charm.

I thought the red head did a good job. I loved the new Metal D&D guy. Hopper was pretty good. I think the story was twice as good as seasons 2 and 3 but for some reason the execution wasn't. The dialogue was George Lucas bad for quite a bit but I enjoyed the new big bad and thought the actor did a great job. The tubby curly haired kid really pulled it off. He's a solid little actor as well.

Overall I think it's the best season since the first even if a few characters seemed to have little to do.

I sometimes feel that the miniseries format often stretches scenes in a way we aren't comfortable viewing. We've been conditioned by the 90 minute movie format to experience things in a fast-forwarded fashion. Exposition and character development are rushed and perfunctory. When the story is told over 10 hours we are shown a lot more character development, but not always in a well written manner. Sometimes they just say the same thing they would have said in the short format, but repeat it 4 times to fill the time of a 10 hour format.

In short: I hear what you are saying Mr. Plow.
