2019 Free agency Thread

We don't really have one of these yet, so figured we could use this as a place to discuss potential free agent acquisitions and what we would like to look for them to bring in.

If any of you guys are interested, heres a good place to do some research.

I like Nnadi a lot. But Smith didn't really do anything that impressive to me in kick returns. Just run around the edge and hope there's a wall for him. And he really looked like crap on defense.

Still think he probably ends up in Denver.
Amos was a 5th round pick, man.

Safeties should be drafted and developed. Very few of them have any standout physical skills, Amos most assuredly included.

Spending $10 million on a guy who simply did his job credibly is nuts. We fired our entire goddamn coaching staff because we were sure we could bring guys in who could teach players and get more out of them.

It makes zero sense to dedicate that kind of space to a guy who'd play cornerback if he were a better player.

Maybe it's not fair, but I'm generalizing my complaint about the drafting to the front office as a whole. Veach was still a big part of the front office under Dorsey. It doesn't matter whether you blame Veach or Dorsey, this team still has very little to show from the drafting defense over the past 5-6 years. Other than Chris Jones, who's the last defender drafted that's actually a difference maker? Guys like Nnadi, Watts, DOD, and Speaks can be decent pieces, but I highly doubt any of them end up being real difference makers. That's fine if you add them to a team that includes several other playmakers, but with Houston and Ford out the door we have jack shit for playmakers after Jones.

I kinda get what you’re saying but that’s a lot easier said than done. Guys fall through the cracks. He’s not the first player to evidently get passed on way too many times in the draft.

I’m not saying give him $10M per year but I think he’s definitely worth looking at.

If you don’t sign anyone, we’re gonna go into the draft with way too many needs to fill out.

Well he only really played at Denver and against Jacksonville. Had a sack vs. Denver and almost a 2nd one, had a nice PBU vs JAX. Two INTs in the last preseason game.

He flashed a decent bit for as little as he played.

I'll be honest - I'm with you here. I don't remember seeing much of anything memorable from him. But others have definitely felt different.

Regardless, the sample size is small and he deserves a much more extended look. The problem with our situation in the secondary is not Watts but what we're going to get from Berry. CP has determined that his contribution will be negligible; it seems like the Chiefs *might* feel different.

Best case scenario is the Chiefs are right.

alright guys I am here. Did we score Landin Collins to commander Spags system or what? What big ticket did we get for cutting Justin Houston? I am excited for our new piece to put the Chiefs over the hump!
