Andrew Luck Retires

Filed to ESPN: Andrew Luck has informed the Colts he is retiring from the NFL, per source. There will be a press conference Sunday to make it official, but Luck is mentally worn down, and now checking out.

That's not what you said.

You said you thought it would be easy to show he's entitled to it due to his injuries...

Yes, but I never said I personally thought he was entitled. He ain't.

But I'm sure it would not be hard to find a good lawyer to "prove" he is.

You lack reading comprehension.

This makes no sense. The people buying tickets and merchandise are burning their Luck jerseys. They would eat up a narrative that had him betraying the team and being a pussy. Irsay standing behind Luck speaks volumes about the reality of this situation.

Well if you don't think he's entitled why would you think it would be easy to prove he is?

Chiefs and Browns are the only ones with long term solutions at QB. Browns have a bunch of question marks too.

The AFC is the Chiefs for the taking.

Do you ever feel ****ing ashamed of being a Colts fan? You should.

You sucked dick and got Manning. You rolled with Manning for most of his career. Then he was out. So to replace him, you didn't trade up or develop a player. You didn't get lucky on a late round pick. You didn't do anything that required any kind of bold initiative or thought. You didn't even suffer for more losing than was absolutely minimum. Just BAM! New QB. All American boy. Stanford grad who turned down tens of millions of dollars in the last year of the CBA all so he could stay an extra year and finish his college education. Perfect size. Super intelligent. Great arm. Everybody loves him. Just sitting there, waiting to change the most deserving franchise in need of his help...

Oh. It's the shitbag Colts.

If the Colts don't win at least 4 games this year, the NFL should contract your shitty ****ing franchise. Your team has never been able to survive a single goddamn season without a top 5 QB at the helm. What a pathetic ****ing bunch of losers and phonies.

You're still waltzing around here like you didn't do anything wrong. Get ****ed. You have no idea what kind of pain awaits you in QB purgatory because you've never had to suffer through an era like that. And I don't want to hear one ****ing word about what life was like post-Unitas and pre-Manning. I guarantee you it wasn't as bad as you think it was.

Go through 20 years without a real QB. Go through 30 years without a real QB. Then get back to us. Then maybe you'll earn a single shred of respect and have your thoughts taken seriously.

Speaking of Luck, we're obviously lucky to have Mahomes, but did he come to the perfect team or what? Great offensive staff, weapons, and a solid o-line. Luck got beat up bad under Pagano.

If you don't have a lacerated kidney, you aren't trying.

On the other hand, any way you look at this, it's a strange situation. Obviously, playing through pain isn't his thing which is understandable. Then again, some people are simply genetically disposed to a lower level of pain tolerance ... like, for example, Curly Howard. Before Curly attained his personal, career pain threshold, Mo used to smack the living crap out of that dude and the director would demand that he repeatedly mash his head against a wall. Eventually, he just couldn't take it anymore. It was sad to see Curly go, but you understood his decision.

The timing is weird, but the most bizarre part of this story is the leak. Somebody "in the know" decided it was a good idea to leak Luck's decision during (or just prior to) the game last night. That was a dick move. First, you let the guy get beat to absolute hell because you don't provide him with an offensive line capable of stopping a nose bleed, then you rob him of his own retirement announcement decision? Shameful. Even Mo and Larry didn't do that. The Colts aren't a franchise, they're an arm of the GRU.

We were in the middle of our Fantasy draft last night and I had just picked him up about 30 minutes prior to the announcement on the TV. I was just like... figures.
