You know eventually they'll have an app that will convert your speech into text, so you can talk into your phone, translate it to text, have someone else receive it, where it's translated to voice, they speak their reply, which is translated to text.

I wouldn't argue with that except that I think the gap between multi-tapping and T9 is at least as large as the gap between T9 and QWERTY. I'd bet that speed tests between people who are proficient in each would bear that out. But QWERTY certainly takes less getting used to for anyone who is familiar with a standard keyboard.
