Yeah, Biles has similar domination if we're throwing in non-Olympic performance, which we should, but Ledecky didn't take 2 years off.

Ledecky is a cyborg. She's not a human in the pool. She's a machine. I'd put her above Biles. She's the best woman swimmer I've ever seen. No one even comes close to her in the water.

Shes dominant in 2 races. The 800 and 1500, but she got bronze in the 400. Shes dominant at long distance.

I would think a good test would be how they compared to their peers in their primes along with how long they sustained that superiority. Looking at Phelps it’s very hard to argue against his dominance for almost two decades.

She's got about a dozen more years to reach LeBron status.

In fairness, Phelps had mental issues of his own that led to a dui and a suspension. Unlike biles it just didn’t coincide with the Olympics. Also have to consider that biles is doing this beyond at an age where most gymnasts have long retired.

Still, I just have a hard time saying it’s not Phelps or eventually ledecky.

Name another athlete that you might consider for a list of best American athletes that quit on their team in a competition that only comes around every 4 years.

"Quit on her team" seems to be the incredibly douchey way to say she had a legit issue that caused a former gymnast Jacoby Miles to become paralyzed by breaking her neck. I hate the term, but it's called the Twisties and it really ****s them up. Biles damn near hurt herself in her vault that year because of it. She withdrew so she didn't **** it up for the rest of the team. I believe she also had some mental health issues going on at the time too, but big bad LoneWolf probably doesn't believe in that sort of stuff.

Simone withdrawing from the last Olympics is fair when talking GOAT status. I think it takes her out of the conversation given how great Phelps was. But that’s an insane narrative that she quit on her team. Incredibly dangerous to have the yips in gymnastics and it’s not good for the team either.

Michael Phelps missed a world championship because of off the field shit. Michael Jordan bailed completely on the sport out of nowhere and he’s one of my GOATs. Like, what are we doing here?

I think Jordan was suspended for gambling.
