Chiefs considering Reid or Rees-Zammit for full time Kick Off Specialist.

I think this is brilliant! When heard this from Toub during the presser today I LOVED the idea! Also, one is a left footed kicker and the other a right - count me in on this!

Does anyone know from the practice sessions if LRZ or Reid can reliably kick as far as Butker? I assume LZ maybe can from his rugby background, but that may be a wrong assumption.
In my view with The new kick off rules the key will be kicking the ball out of the end zone. The 5 yards penalty starting out at the 30 yard line just isn’t worth the risk of a run back under the new rules. I think Butker can reliably always kick the ball out of the end zone unless there are adverse weather conditions. If that happens and we anticipate having to tackle then definitely either Reid or LRZ (If he can tackle —and I think that’s an unknown.)would be the best approach. But the priority should generally be on kicking it out of the end zone whenever possible rather than tackling in my view. |

They took a lot of value out of the kickoff with this rule change. Butker was pretty damn good at getting some hang time on kicks to allow the guys to get down the field while keeping the ball in play and out of the endzone.
Now it seems that that doesn’t matter anymore |

He could be the kicker AND the kick-returner. That's insane.

it has been a long time since the NFL has had a returner that you knew the name. You've seen his kick returns on sportscenter. Every once in a while now someone returns one but I can't even recall the last time a Chief did it. Kniles Davis? Outside of Toney's Superbowl return
Hopefully this makes it more exciting or something but it will probably be gay AF |

Reese has clearly made a strong impression early. Ya love to see it. His story is very unique.
Chiefs are ahead of the game. Using Reid on kickoffs is quite brilliant. |

I mean, Pete Sweeney saying something is pretty much as close to fan speculation that you can get. This has a bit more meaning considering he quotes Toub.

As a Chiefs fan I really dislike these new special teams rules. It actually makes special teams somewhat valuable again and will allow bad football teams more chances to win games. It will be more exciting for fans though.
