you do realize that scouts make assessments every day of the week . veach made an assessment . so did Dorsey . Dorsey made the deal. Dorsey took the heat until mahomes became mahomes. name one other draft pick who gets attributed to a scout , not the actual GM. also please name me all of the nfl top 100 players veahch has either drafted, signed as a free agent or traded for in 5 years. I am waiting . ........

Wut? Pretty obvious you haven't read ANY of the multiple articles on the subject, but Veachs involvement was MUCH more than just an 'assessment'.

I'm a bit shocked we still have Dorsey stans around here. As good as his eye for talent is, the fact he hasn't been able to land even a Director of Football Operations job should be a pretty massive tell for what the league thinks of him as a GM.

haha, remember when one of you guys said Brett Veach was a 'foot shuffling porter'? Which one of you was it, I don't remember, but that's a tough phrase to forget.

Never said that . I have no Issues with Veach . Seems like no one here has ever worked for a big company. In big companies everyone is always the best in the world and great people to boot , until they hit the door . Then they sucked and their subordinates who stayed behind were the real stars all along . The same shit in my law firm every year for 33 years . It is human nature . So who is the fifth best player the Chiefs acquired in the last ten years . We know who the top four were. Would vote for Hunt . Guess Dorsey doesn’t get credit for him either ? No GM is perfect . Dorsey is a huge douche which may play a role in his employment status as his track record on top end talent would seem to be enough for him to find a home . Not dissing Veach but don’t make believe that Dorsey hasn’t played a role in their success

nd Dorsey does receive some credit somewhere. He started stacking the roster with Veach and went to Cleveland and stacked that roster.

Dorsey has been an aces personnel man. He must be truly miserable to work with, however.
His drafts were all money. Literally 100% of the players he drafted in the 1st round were Pro Bowlers, and he drafted 4 HOF players. And it might have been five had Kareem Hunt not been a massive tool. His drafts were consistently very good to flat-out-great. He couldn't navigate free agency very efficiently, however, and couldn't manage the cap very well. His job was different from Veach's, however. Dorsey took over a 2-14 team with Alex Smith at QB. He could afford to be patient, keep grinding tape and adding the best players he could find no matter what position they played. Veach took over at the start of the Mahomes era, and his job has been to keep the team at Super Bowl caliber year in and year out, which sometimes means hyperaggression and narrow free agency targets. He was able to rebuild an entire 3-4 defense into a 4-3 defense in one offseason. He was able to completely rebuild the offensive line in a single offseason. He was able to completely rebuild the secondary in one offseason. He has been able to consistently plug holes at offensive skill positions. He's been able to max out the cap and still keep it healthy year after year. The Chris Jones contract standoff has honestly been the nadir of his GM career so far, but I've no doubt he'll find a way to spin Jones into multiple draft picks and do something insane like rebuild the DL in a single offseason. |

Mahomes was not drafted a finished product. No expensive was spared in preparing him. That was not Dorsey's or Veach's doing
