Ed Harris takes Top villain role in HBOs "Westworld" reboot
Sweet. Loved this film when I was a kid. It's ripe for a reboot.
Doesn't sound like he's playing the Yul Brenner role though http://insidetv.ew.com/2014/08/11/ed-harris-westworld/ Image Credit: WireImage.com Ed Harris is coming to series TV: The Abyss and Apollo 13 actor has signed on as the Big Bad in HBO’s Westworld reboot. The four-time Oscar nominee’s character is called The Man in Black, and is described as “the distillation of pure villainy into one man.” He joins previously cast star — and fellow series television newcomer—Anthony Hopkins, along with Evan Rachel Wood, Jeffrey Wright, and Shannon Woodward. The Warner Bros.-produced sci-fi pilot produced by J.J Abrams, Jerry Weintraub, and Bryan Burk updates Michael Crichton’s 1973 classic film about a theme park where androids fulfill dark human desires. Harris’ description might sound like he’s playing the Yul Brynner killer-cowboy robot role, but it seems like actor Rodrigo Santoro was tapped for that part—and online production rumors suggest The Man in Black is actually a human character who sadistically abuses the androids. Harris will soon be seen the feature film Run All Night, starring opposite Liam Neeson and Joel Kinnaman. Harris won a Golden Globe and was nominated for an Emmy for his work in HBO’s Game Change. |

Right on. Cold storage nation.
Still, not sure i'm with you on the MIB plays dead angle. His goal has been to make the risk real, and here it is. And it made him crack a smile. |

Really? I didn't see the face well enough. I was paying attention to the zombie body language. I did notice the old timey clothing and lever action rifle.

He doesn't want to just stand there and get shot by a bunch of zombie/insane androids though. I think he disappears to heal up and get himself properly outfitted/armed.

Ending exactly what I was hoping when Radiohead first appeared on the player piano back in Ep2 or3!!
One of my all time faves. Pig in shit when it started rolling at the reception. Nice tie-in, Exit Music was written for the credits of Baz Luhrman's Romeo and Juliet, the source of the season's motto 'these violent delights have violent ends.' Jonathan Nolan/Person of Interest fans may recall a similar awakening of The Machine And JJ Abrams isn't immune to it's charms either Last edited by Baby Lee; 12-05-2016 at 09:15 AM.. |

Good finale. I tend to agree with those who find it a little amusing at how much some people try to overthink this show as though it were some complex formula. You can sit back and enjoy it for the entertainment it brings and still absorb any meaning and sub-plots in the end.

Okay so in that ARG that's going on, someone found some footage with a timestamp on it and it says what the date is.
I'm putting in spoiler tags in case you don't want to know.
Spoiler!

It would be cheaper if Westworld just used VR instead of Robots. And less dead people.

I haven't looked at any fan theories about it and I don't use Reddit so I don't know what special significance it is rumored to have. I'm just thinking from a visual art point of view. You can't have a scene full of dead people with nothing moving. Either the camera has to move or there has to be something in the frame moving. Otherwise it just looks like a still and the emotional impact is lessened. To me it's like the old Western movies where there are dead people and you have something like a windmill creaking and spinning, and some dead guy's hat blows off, and then a tumbleweed blows by. You have to have movement in the scene or it just falls flat. Other than that: A big ol' fluffy wolf is out of place in a town because civilization keeps them away. So to me it symbolizes a breakdown in society if anything.
