That report saying that the owner wants to extend Ramsey is bullshit. He stated he would be willing to extend Ramsey, not that he wants to.

Jags are just trying to show they don't want to get rid of him to drive up the offers. Ramsey ain't signing an extension with them.

Jesus Christ just offer them 2 1's but then pull a Raiders/Bears and ask for a 2 in return.

The way the Jags are handling this (playing him, Khan’s comments yesterday and now today) tell me they aren’t getting close to the offer they want.

That’s a good sign for us IMO.

Because of the salary cap. Known commodities who have proven their value get 10 mill per year +, or at minimum 5% of the salary cap when 53 people need to get paid. Rookies get incredibly low amounts of money, relatively speaking.

Take Aaron Donald. He earned 2 million per year under his rookie deal, and is earning 20 million per year under his current one. Patrick Mahomes is earning barely over 2 mil per year currently but starting next year it's unsurprising if he earns 40 million per year.

So having a mix of guys being underpaid on rookie deals or hometown discounts is what lets you keep those proven commodities, but often free agency just drives the price up too high, or to the point at which a valuable player who is a steal under his rookie contract becomes too expensive for what he brings to the table.

Not saying Jalen is or isn't worth what his contract would cost. Just saying, that's the argument to be made. It's not just a pick for a player, it's a pick And probably 5-10% of the cap each year for a player.

I'm not saying you should do it all the time, I'm just saying that when it presents itself, it's a good option.

I could see the hesitation by Veach to not give away next years first round pick because since he's been here, I don't think we've had a first round pick outside of Patrick Mahomes. We traded down to get Chris Jones in the second round, we traded the year after Patrick Mahomes for Patrick Mahomes, and we've traded this years 1 for Frank Clark. I can see where the organization doesn't want to create that trend, where we're constantly trading our first round pick year after year due to whatever circumstance comes up that would benefit us, because there will always be circumstances that can benefit us. Plus lets say Veach pulls the trigger and makes this deal for 2 firsts, and lets say that Frank Clark doesn't pan out, or worse, Ramsey and Clark don't pan out, then that's alot of firsts Veach has wasted and will mean his downfall quickly if this team doesn't produce on the defensive side of the ball. I'm just saying that I'm not surprised if he's hesitant on this, or slow playing it to get the Wrath of Khan to subside a little.

Bart Vatch should ask for the Jaguars 2nd in return; their 2nd is like one of our 1s. It's a numbers game, you just want Tom Hacklin to feel like he wants to get ****ed, but not a full-on Big Ben/Antonio Brown rape job.

Tickle his ear. Finger **** him a little bit first...

Clark and Ramsey are both proven commodities though. If you spend 3 first round picks on the two of them, that’s a pretty good deal. You would love for 2 of those 3 picks to turn out to be players of that caliber.

With 3 late first round picks, you would likely get 1 good starter, 1 decent starter, and 1 would like underachieve.
