Will they find a position for MJ? Who else emerges from the youth movement? Not to mention the development of the new downtown stadium.

Rex was talking about how in his last season as a player he stole some ivy from the Wrigley Field wall and Cubs employees were yelling at him and then it somehow morphed into a story about how he was talking to those employees the next day and telling them to keep the tops on the women in the stands.

Biggest series in the MLB coming up tomorrow. Probably the biggest series in MLB this season. Monster matchup. Surprised ESPN and FOX aren't covering the games each night.

Actually a lot of interesting quotes in there for once. Kind of seemed like they favored the downtown site because he talked about it so much, but he also clearly said they would "control" more of the entertainment dollar in Clay County.

Also had some interesting comments on the team too. Basically said they were fooling themselves on how good they were, and they asked him what's different from when Dayton was in charge. He mentioned the pitching development which we all know is different, but then he said this about the trade deadline which is really interesting.

And I would just tell you that there were some deals on the board that would have hurt in the short term and in a very significant way, and that group was willing to do it. So I was very impressed by the willingness to take that risk. It was very dynamic, right? … There were deals on the board we were willing to do if we got the haul. But as that started to get diluted, because counterparties wanted to take this player maybe somewhere else, I was equally impressed that our guys didn’t chase those and they walked away from those deals.

That kind of discipline is, first of all, the willingness to take the risks — that’s different. And then the discipline not to chase — that’s just something you’ve got to have. That’s a business principle. I’ve been in business situations where you have to be willing to take risks, but you gotta know when to walk away. And I saw that and was very impressed by that. And that’s different than what I was seeing a year ago, two years ago.

Interesting read, thanks for posting it!

As far as the potential trade goes, it had to be BWJ or Sal right? And probably not sal because that wouldve been more of a salary dump?
