The Motorcycle Discussion Thread
I figure there are some motorcycle guys/gals on CP, so I thought we could have a place to talk all things Motorcycles.
Tire Mount and Balance Prices (as of 10/29/16) Prices based on if you remove the wheels yourself and bring the wheels and new tires with you: Cycle Gear - $35 per wheel if you buy tires from them. $58 per wheel if you buy tires elsewhere Rawhide - $65 per wheel (assuming it would be the same at other HD dealers. they book it at 1/2 hr per wheel) C R Cycle Tires (DeSoto) - $30 per wheel Cheapest I've found my Michelin Commander II's. Seem like they have good prices on other brands too. http://www.jakewilson.com - Free 3 day shipping on orders over $75 Last edited by Dayze; 10-29-2016 at 09:02 PM.. |

Yeah. I feel pretty good about the deal. They were hung up saying they needed to be at 10.4 after coming down from 11k their first price. etc and I kept saying 10. Initially I offered 9800. Long story short after a while of the being hung up I said no worries. Ill think about it and my wife and I got up to leave. They asked if I was going to let a few hundred from getting in the way of my buying a bike. And I responded asking them if they would be willing to let a sale of a 2013, which they need to move, walk away etc. done deal
Don't get me wrong, the dealer was fantastic. No bs games etc. basically just about 20 minutes of going back and forth etc. good experience. |

actually....while i am bummed the end of the riding season is upon us, the good news is - it'll be winter and there will be nothing else to do but work and pay bills. I'll use the winter months to get the bike a tad more my style; though, the entire reason I bought the 72 is because it's already my style.
Sucker for the late 60s /early 70s california rat rod / low rider scene I remember looking at in my brother's old Hot Rod magazines. Vividly remembering old Don Garlits / "Swamp Rat" pictures on the cover, and inserts of cool Rat Rods, bikes, impalas etc....all over the top on flake and style. Will it look weird riding with a boner? For those not named "Clay".? |

scary. When I was test riding all the bikes on Thursday, I borrowed a helmet from the dealer that was 99% just like that helmet lol.
Debating on going 3/4; was nice on the highway with noise. Though...you almost have to go with a retro helmet. we'll see. Love the 3/4. |

For anyone that may be interested, we just traded for a 2013 Road Glide with just shy of 2300 miles. Selling it for $17,900. Hit me up if you're interested.

The one thing I did noticed at the dealer, after thinking about the experience...
was two separate guys I worked with told me they were color blind. After thinking about this......the candied 72's run about 700 more than the standard paint. so while out looking at the inventory and talking initial numbers, they both said they could get me a 'smokin' deal etc. So when I made my offer, the main dude came back with getting close to my number for the 'standard' paint model. So I suspect they said sub-10k as the 'smokin' deal, while realizing I was talking about the candy; then later claiming they're 'color blind' and didn't notice I was talking about the candy. way to ****ing odd that 2 people working at the same place are color blind. |

That is one sweet bike. I love the Candied Green. You purchased at the perfect time of the year. Only problem is waiting out the winter. Congrats! |

So the wife, buddy, and I went riding up north friday night... while on K5 heading up to Leavenworth around dusk, my bud hit gravel on a curve @ about 40... lost the back end then it caught and slammed him sideways on a semi-barrel roll. He didn't have a helmet on but was able to walk away sore but no damage. Totaled his R1. I'm using this excuse to get him converted into a VRod.
