*****The Patrick Mahomes Thread*****

IT ****ING HAPPENED

OP UPDATE:

Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

For all the talk about how great Herbert is, I'll say two things about last night's game:

1. Every time the Dolts scored a TD, the Chiefs answered with their own (with exception to the final TD at the end of the game)
2. Nothing Herbert did in that game, with MAYBE exception to that 4th down laser thrown, was remotely close to either of Pat's TDs last night. Pat could most assuredly make the Herbert throw, not so sure Herbert could have done either of the Pat TD throws (maybe the Watson throw (as that was more straight away step up in the pocket), but not the McKinnon throw)

On top of that Herbert had amazing protection from his Oline in the first 3 quarters. It wasn't really until the 4th that our pass rush was knocking him down.

Mahomes had horrid protection most of the night. Much of the time there wasn't a pocket for him to step into, and Bosa/Mack were wrecking on the edge.
We had a strong running game but of course Andy went away from it too early and Mahomes started to force hero balls downfield.
I'm glad he is a badass and made those clutch TD throws.

The media narrative is that mahomes is lucky getting lots of INTs reversed. Maddening. Take away his free play INTS which obviously don’t count… even if a reasonable amount of his “lucky” INT drops were caught, he’d still have a low INT rate

Oh don't worry I watched someone try to argue that it was total bullshit they called a penalty on the Hardman one and James had a pick 6 taken away because of it.

No reasonable person could watch that game last night and judge Herbert to be in the same league as Patrick Mahomes II. Herbert is a good quarterback, but Patrick Mahomes II reigns over the land.

Herbert is basically a more athletic Troy Aikman, when he has protection and things go right he's gonna be on target all the time...he's athletic enough to not be total balls when things go sideways but he makes mistakes when it happens.

He needs to be more careful with the ball. At least 5 throws hit defender hands last night. He was very lucky to have 0 turnovers in such a close game.

Did anyone else catch the comment in the post-game where someone (didn't recognize the voice) said, "Justin Herbert has thrown one bad pass all year and the Chiefs took advantage of it."

Whaaaa-?

Herbert threw numerous bad passes during the game. He's a fine quarterback, but he's no Patrick Mahomes II. There were numerous instances where he overthrew or underthrew passes earlier in the game.

This whole thing about playing up Herbert in the media needs to ramp back down to reality.

Without a doubt yes. But every qb throws INTs. The narrative that he’s an INT machine show what unrealistic expectations there are for him. He had some almost picks against an outstanding defense.

True but IIRC the defense had it is chances as well with 2-3 INT drops plus the one Watson got.

Interesting no one brings that up.

He won’t. KC won’t always be facing a defense as good as the Chargers with two elite pass rushers.

For some reason that doesn't get talked about. Willie Gay had one hit him right in the hands and not a peep from the media about it. Hell, not even a peep from Chiefs fans really.

I'd have to look at the game again, but you can certainly make the case that Herbert had some potential INT's too.

Potential INT's is ****ing stupid anyway, but since we're on the subject....
