Dayton will just draft Chris Owings’ bastard sons. Or Willie Bloomquosts, Chriz Getz, Yuni. And create a super team of grit.

Amazing how the Dodgers are able to keep finding stars at the back end of the rounds like Gavin Lux and Dustin May et al, yet our system blows top picks like Bubba And colon and Crow on and on. Disgusting

The Dodgers’ 15 and 16 drafts were awesome. Friedman’s first 2 drafts as La president netted: 2015 Walker Buehler (1.20 - fell due to arm issues) Willie Calhoun 4.132 - key piece in Yu Darvish deal, former top 100 prospect) 2016 Lux (1.20) Will Smith (1.32) Dustin Mayb(3.101) DJ Peters (4.131) Devin Smeltzer (5.162 - traded for Brian Dozier) Tony Gonsolin (9.281) But most of the rep you’re assigning is based on those. The 2017 draft looks pretty empty (Jeren Kendall is a bust, :tear, they didn’t sign their top pick in 18 and had no other big pops from that group. 2019 is too soon to tell. I think Kody Hoese (1.25) is going to be a good pro, but Michael Busch (1.31) - an advanced college bat - is putting up Chris Owings level numbers at Rookie and A ball (.125/.371/.125). Kyle Funkhouser (2015 1.35) didn’t sign and Jordan Sheffield (2016 1.36) is posting middling reliever number at High A. Friedman and his crew are really excellent. The Dodgers’ 2016 draft was excellent. But even one of the best orgs around - with unlimited resources - has missed, too. |

Can one of the numerous smart baseball guys here explain what the royals have in Dini and Viloria? Are either a legit future catcher? Neither? 4A guys?

I got a call from someone in the Royals ticketing today. Never had one of those calls. I’m assuming they’re getting desperate to sell tickets.
