Crazy thing is is that today's NFL has also helped him in a way. Watch any QB run and see how the defense approaches them. They act like they don't really know what to do. Can't blame them either. The system has been set up that if you clock a QB not only are you going to get a flag, but likely a hefty fine as well. Consequently guys are not very aggressive in getting a QB down that is running, even outside the pocket. One of the adjustments down the road I think will come is a defensive coordinator is going to challenge his defense to treat Jackson like Ingram. If he is going to run between the tackles punish him. If there is a chance he has the ball on an option, punish him. Bottom line: Beat him up when he is running. If I was to guess the team that goes there first I am taking the Steelers.

The fact of the matter is the Ravens completely rebuilt their offense around what Lamar does well. This "product of the system" shit is bullshit. Their system exists BECAUSE of Lamar. Much the same way the Chiefs offense adapted for Mahomes. Mahomes doesn't run Alex Smith's version of Reid's offense. He doesn't run McNabb's version or Vick's. He runs the Mahomes version, which is a system tailored to what Mahomes does well. The SYSTEM is built around Mahomes. Mahomes, like Lamar, aren't products of a system. They are the focal point of a system designed AROUND them, FOR them. Ya follow? |

And to those thinking Lamar is simply going to get hurt and that's the end of that, well, you're wrong too.
Lamar is built to run. He's not a QB who runs, but is built as a passer. And he does a damn good job of avoiding big contact and protecting himself. |

His style of play is not sustainable though and I doubt he ever sees a big 2nd contract. |

This is not RGIII. This is not Mike Vick. Like Mahomes, people need to come to terms with the fact that this is something new, fresh, and it's here to stay. People didn't wanna believe Mahomes' performance was sustainable either. We're talking about a different generation of football, man. I think it lasts. |

Also, i've long read/heard that the triple-option offense is one of the most difficult to stop in college football. Air Force, for example, basically runs around w/o a QB.
The Ravens are already running some Triple-option concepts. And quite frankly it may only be a matter of time before it becomes a thing in the NFL, with the way run defenses are going these days.... |

This conversation reminds me of the Mahomes naysayers of '18. People just didn't want to believe what they were seeing because it had never been done before, so they say "yeah but, remember that one guy? How'd that work out?" |
