*****The Patrick Mahomes Thread*****

IT ****ING HAPPENED

OP UPDATE:

Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

The route combo there was designed to beat C2 I think.

They got C3 and it ****ed the play.

It is crazy to think Mahomes had 3 shots at the end zone from the 25 if Pringle catches that.

Would have been epic.

Exactly, he had another easy drop that hurt the team as well.

He needs to be back on the practice squad- take Kemp with him.

A #2 wideout makes the catch and takes the hit.

A JAG’s priority is falling to the ground to avoid contact above securing that catch.

Just how it goes in a violent sport like this.

That pick was on Kelce, IMO.
It was pretty obvious from the stands - Kelce ended up juking Mahomes. Kelce always drifts into open space and Mahomes absolutely expected him to do so here, giving him a 1v1 against the safety where Kelce could've used inside position to play some bully-ball and box out the safety for the reception.

It was just a miscommunication but it was one born of Kelce breaking his own tendency. Mahomes expected that upfield cut because that's what Kelce always does. For whatever reason, he didn't do it here.

I think he may have been spooked.
I think he was starting to (you can see him set his feet) but the two rushers would've been on him too fast to step in and throw a dart so it would've hung up. I don't think he could've put enough on that one given the two guys that were going to drive on him.

Mahomes did about everything he could there. He bought enough time for Kelce to settle into space and for some reason Kelce just didn't do it. in fact he gave a stutter step in just as Mahomes was getting ready to release that really killed the whole play.

What? He had a clean pocket. On Kelce's initial route he had time to throw over the middle of the field. Brain fart.

Ah, you meant on his break to the inside. Yeah - that's the happy feet we've seen from him far too often. It wasn't exactly a 'clean' pocket, but he didn't give Niang an opportunity to re-set before he broke contain, that's for sure.

I thought you were referring to Kelce breaking back outside as Mahomes began his rollout.

Interesting tidbit.

Mahomes is on track to have the highest completion % of his career (72.3%) by a wide margin and his average per attempt is still 8.6 which would be second highest of his career. So outside of a few bonehead INT's he is on fire.

Also he is average 6.1 yards per scramble, another career high.

I only care about Super Bowl numbers now, because at this rate Mahomes will have every other record.
