****The Official Andy Reid Thread****

As many have pointed out, the infamous Andy Reid thread is too much of a dumpster fire to have any kind of discussion over Andy.

This thread is to talk about any and all things Andy Reid, the Hall of Fame head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs. Here we can celebrate his achievements, his creative playcalling, AND critique our Hall of Fame coaches decision making from time to time.

***I looked for a thread like this, even going back to 2013, and could not find anything.

Let's talk Andy.

Andy has felt like he’s a small, but noticeable step behind his counterparts on Sundays this year. The 4th down decision making, risk taking, and urgency that Brandon Staley, Stefanski, and Harbaugh have coached with this season has seemed like it would flow well with our offense. I have no doubts that Andy can get adjusted. We were 6-4 and “wouldn’t sniff the playoffs” in 2019, 1-5 in 2015, and 7-6 and “dead in the water” in 2017. Part of Andy’s HOF record is his ability to course correct during the season - but I think a big part of that is going to be leaning into the strengths on the team.

This is the first time that I have felt like the game is ahead of him.

Idk if it's the Britt shit or if he's finally showing his age but something is wrong this year.

Idk, I was pretty sold the game was past him during that 1-5 start in 2015 after missing the playoffs the year before.

He has righted the ship before, but I think alarm bells should begin to ring if this team never finds itself like the 2014 team.

I love Andy and this is not me advocating for him to go.

But more and more I find myself wondering what Mahomes would be like with a younger more aggressive offensive mind like McVay or Shanahan.

He's obviously a great head coach, but he needs better coordinators. Get a DC with some balls, and either Reid should call all the offensive plays, or he should hire another OC and let him call all of the plays. I've never been impressed with Bieniemy as a coordinator.

I 100% agree...he just hasn't been the same since the Britt fiasco and the Super Bowl and now his health is an issue alongside the team falling apart, not a good combination.

He just looks....off. I can't put my finger on it, something just feels different. It just seems like he's going through the motions any more.

Did anyone watch Andy's postgame? Dude seemed truly dazed by the game and the result. I didn't realize that this was the worst home loss in Andy's career with KC (THAT surprised me). I guess silver lining is that this may have finally been the wake-up call Andy needed?

Uhhhhh....neither of those guys is more aggressive than Andy Reid.

McVay fed his star running back until he broke him the SB year.

Shanahan just runs his dad's zone blocking scheme and runs at least as much as he throws.

Neither leans balls out into the passing game as much as Andy Reid.

Younger, sure. More aggressive? Not even close.

Correlation doesn't necessarily imply causation, but there's a correlation that's hard to ignore. The Britt incident happens and then we get uncharacteristically embarrassed in the Super Bowl, with a bad game plan and a failure to adjust.

Then coming into this season Andy didn't have his customary offseason weight loss, which I'm not criticizing him for, but I think is a sign of distraction. And now we've been unfocused and mistake-prone in basically every game this season, plus we seem totally unable to scheme around how teams are defending us. Our plan seems to be to ask the offense to execute perfectly, which just isn't tenable.

All that said, I think we eventually straighten it out enough to get to 11 wins. But even if we don't, I don't think we should make the mistake Philly did. Andy's history has shown he'll eventually get right.

The unforced errors from this team this year are at a level I have never seen from an Andy Reid coached KC team.

I'm the biggest Andy guy and I think hes a top 3 coach in the league...but this has to be on him. This team isn't good at all and the mistakes they're making are just so ****ing stupid that's it's hilarious at this point.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him retire at the end of the year if this bullshit keeps going.

I really think it's just a shit storm of distractions from the top down. From the coaches to the locker room leaders particularly on defense. They need closure on Britt. I wonder if Reid at some point needs to consider time off to get himself right... Family issues chipped away at his mental health for years.

It just seems so stale now. I'm not saying Andy needs to go but the coaching staff definitely needs a refresh. All three coordinators can get ****ed.
