Would you make this trade?

https://nflnewsupdates.com/this-chie...yXMNYq_jxbLsXY

The Kansas City Chiefs are looking to repeat as Super Bowl champions this upcoming season. The team has to spend some major money on Patrick Mahomes soon, and Chris Jones is also due for a major deal.

Committing funds to one or two players will change the way the Chiefs operate. If the team holds off until 2021 to offer extensions, moves can still be made to acquire top talent this year. One player in particular is New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara.

A Chiefs trade for Kamara is not that crazy when looking at the numbers. The team has just over $3 million in cap space (per spotrac) and Kamara is on the final year of his rookie deal and set to earn just over $2 million. He is a free agent in 2021, but can join the Chiefs for one season before hitting free agency.

SHOP NOW: Fanatics has released their 2020 NFL Draft Hats!

A trade package that should sway the Saints would be the Chiefs offering up running back Damien Williams, offensive guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, and a third-round pick. In return the Saints would send Kamara and a fifth-rounder.

This move would see the Chiefs shed nearly $12 million in salary and get an upgrade at running back. The Saints would add Williams to a backfield featuring Latavius Murray and would get a high pick in return. Duvernay-Tardif is under contract through 2022 and started 14 games at guard last season.

The key to this move happening is the Saints not wanting to offer an extension to Kamara in his contract year. If that is the case, the team can get a nice haul in return for a player who would be leaving after the season anyway. As for the Chiefs, they may become unstoppable offensively with Kamara in the backfield.

I know this would never happen but I would do this trade in a heartbeat.
I just don't think the Saints would make that trade.

Kamara would cost $2 million. Cheaper than Damien for 2020.

So, you guys whine about not being able to afford Jones, but want a RB who will burn out very quickly on the last year of his deal. The hell is wrong with people?

Damien Williams has turned out to actually be a pretty good back. People really undervalue what he contributes to the offense. He doesn't have all the stats because Reid puts the ball in the hands of PMII to go down field.

I'd like to have that premium back but I'm not sure it's a wise investment even in the draft. If we focus on building that defense and as long as we have healthy PMII we're going deep in the playoffs EVERY year.

Sure, but he’s gonna want a top of market contract in 2021.

As I mentioned in another thread, Damien Wilson has never appeared in all 16 games in a season, let alone 19, in 6 full NFL seasons.

Williams has 1,231 rushing yards and 12 TD's in six seasons.

Kareem Hunt had 1,327 and 8 TD's in his rookie season.

The Chiefs definitely need to add a running back in the 2020 draft but trading for Kamara is not the right answer.

He doesn't have the stats because he can't stay on the field, Bro.

RB going into his 5th who wants to be paid in 2021. Kamara hasn't been the same electric RB since Ingraham left IMHO.

NO.

D Will may not be sexy but I could give a rat's ass as long as he keeps being a "ballin gamer" in big games like the postseason.

Agree with Dane. We need to add a RB in the draft within the first three rounds. Nothing against Williams play it’s just that he gets injured a lot

I think the key sentence here for you guys is, "This move would see the Chiefs shed nearly $12 million in salary and get an upgrade at running back". KC is up against the wall with the cap. They've got Jones who wants money, Mahomes who wants money, and they have little money. Something's gotta give; they're not going to be able to pay Jones, bump up Mahomes, and still do business with what's on the roster. So, yes, they're giving away a lot but they'd get a stud RB (yes, only for a year) AND salary cap relief. Duvernay-Tardif, Damien Williams, and no cap space might not bring the Lombardi back to you; Kamara and $12M in cap space is a different story.

That article is the result of social distancing. Gotta find something to write about.

I'm just glad it's not anything about Brady or the Pats. JFC, that's all any of the sports shows on TV want to talk about.

I've posted this before but if you take away his two best runs from 2019 regular season he has less than 3.0 ypa.

We need an upgrade.
