Looks great!
When are they announcing Tom Hardy as the next James Bond? Seems like a no brainer. |

Craig has been the best Bond. Casino Royale is a masterpiece and Skyfall was better.
Damn it I'm so in. |

I thought Bond was going to be a black transgender this time around?

Nah - we're not gonna go see the new James Bond movie because there's no James Bond in it. They aren't "007" flicks; they're James Bond flicks. This isn't even Mission Impossible, where you can maybe get away with Ethan Hunt taking on a reserve role. Even then, people were pissed about making Jim Phelps, a protagonist from the (little watched) television show, a bad guy. This is the Bourne franchise, where Jeremy Renner tried to step into the forefront and the movie fell on its face (despite being a pretty decent stand-alone effort). I just don't understand how they think they can take the James Bond franchise and toss a female lead in there and think "well yeah, it's the same thing..." |

Looks solid! Daniel Craig has been an excellent pick for James Bond. Casino Royale and Skyfall were two of the best.

I've warmed to Idris Elba as Bond, even though I kinda don't see the point. I just like the guy. The more I've seen of him, the more I like him. I still wonder if he has the 'suave' gear. He mostly plays 'rugged'. That said, Craig's Bond has kinda taken the franchise in that direction anyway so that stumbling block isn't as significant anymore.
The problem is that Elba has gotta be near 50 years old. And I know Craig is 50 but he's also been doing this for, what, 10+ years? Guy was in his late 30s when he was cast. He took the reigns damn near a full decade younger than Elba would be when Elba took over. If you're gonna re-boot it with a new actor, you can't do the 'Bond is Old' thing for another 6-8 years. Hardy presents a similar situation but I think Hardy looks a little younger than Elba. Hiddleston managed to turn into a parody of himself somehow and get knocked out of contention. Nicholas Hoult ever get any traction in these conversations? |

Side note: There's an actor I was thinking of who looks EXACTLY like Tom Hiddleston. His name is JJ Feild and the only reason I know him is because of the AMC Show "Turn: Washington's Spies: - pretty entertaining revolutionary war era show about the Culper ring. Problem is that Feild really is just a poor man's Hiddleston; same issues Hiddleston would present and nowhere near the actor from what I've seen.
But the guy that plays the main protagonist is an actor named Jamie Bell and he's damn good. He'd be the perfect age for Bond when the next movie is being filmed; mid 30s. I think he'd be a great fit. |

It doesn’t seem like a good fit but, no one (myself included) thought Damon was going to pull off a character like Bourne - Benedict Cumberbatch? I’m trying to envision and only getting half way there. And even if it were a good fit we run into the age issue as he is already in his 40’s, putting him pretty close to that 50 mark by time his first film debuted. I don’t know. Actors from the UK play Americans all the time, perhaps we’ve reached the point where the opposite needs to happen to increase the size of the talent pool. Why do we even need another James Bond so soon? Who cares who will be Bond. If we are lucky they aren't even born yet. We have too many of these corny movies.

Well shit. Yeah, he was definitely short in Turn, but 5'7" is gonna be tough to camera trick around. Especially with a bunch of large action set pieces.
A 5'7" Bell fighting Dave Bautista would've been pretty laughable. Craig isn't tall but hes not distractingly short. Bell probably would be at 5'7". |
