Disney Plus to reboot "FireFly" series?

Was a huge fan of FF, and it was one of the very few times I was angry when they canceled a show. Hope they bring this one back, with most if not all the original characters.

Disney announced a lot of their big plans for the future in a huge investor presentation last week, but they didn’t announce all of them. There’s one property that I’ve been hearing whispers about that didn’t get mentioned. That property is Firefly. The lack of an announcement about it doesn’t mean, however, that Disney isn’t keen to do something with the Joss Whedon cult phenom. In fact, they’re working on a new Firefly series for Disney+. Development on their Firefly reboot is in such an early stage, however, that they couldn’t make an announcement about it during last week’s Investor Day.

A reboot of Captain Mal would suck IMO. Give me a post-Miranda galactic frontier with new characters and the occasional cameo by Filion and the rest. Maybe consider adding one original cast as a crew member (Cobb or Kaylee?) the first season to help bridge things, but absolutely zero interest in a reboot.

This sounds like a really, really bad idea.

Unless it's original cast continuing after Serenity.

Fillion's been trying to get something going for years. He's in good with ABC, so he's in good with Disney. So maybe.

For me it was Serenity.

And I don't hate Whedon at all for killing off Book and Wash. Firefly as a story is a "strike while its hot" thing considering the chemistry they had with the cast as well as the then-nicheness of a Sci-Fi / Western. The devotion of the Browncoats played a part in getting a dead FOX TV show some closure in a feature length film. Say what you will: that's pretty gorram impressive.

Hopefully a reboot will be shiny.

I saw another article that said it would be more family friendly, pg instead of pg-13. That would anger me.

Well. It is Disney+

They have a certain ‘brand’ they sell on that platform. The more adult stuff seems to go to Hulu or other services.
