There's support, however, to get a new stadium built but UAB is controlled by a state Board of Trustees, comprised mainly of 'bama backers. They kill any plans for UAB to improve their station as a football school and it is very likely they'll vote to end the program in the next few weeks. From what I've read on Reddit, the U of A board killed a relatively successful NCAA-sanctioned hockey team at University of Alabama - Hunstville for no good reason so there's precedent for the board to do such a thing.

EDIT: The Alabama Board of Trustees vetoed UAB's hiring of Jimbo Fisher as head coach in spite of the fact UAB boosters were going to put up $600,000 in Fisher's salary.

Why are you posting this on a KC board? Who could possible give a rats ass?

Because I love the sport of football and think it's bullshit that school can be screwed around in such a way.

Given that I'm an alum of a school that has no football team I know that I missed out on a huge part of the "college experience" and hate to see other kids be denied the same way I was.

Also UAB losing their football team would force them out of the C-USA, therefore it relates to college football realignment..

Dumbass.

Im actually surprised how close it was with how awful we played.
You usually have fewer turnovers than you did in that game? Really?

It's the fewest you've had in a game this season.

Yup. It's a fickle position.

Relative to RGIII, it's sad that he was selected by a team that was willing to put him at so much risk. The players will almost always to to be the hero, the coaches have to limit such things. In the case of RGIII I think they did too little to contain his desire to "do it all" (with his legs too), and perhaps some bad luck too. But alas, after his first injury what transpired was truly ridiculous.

That being said, I don't want him because he's physically broken. I really liked the kid and I thought he was going to be the next Mike Vick, but it just didn't happen, for all the wrong reasons.

I wish him the best, I really do, he seems like a great person, but I don't think he can help us in KC.
