I'm not sure why they're saying defund NASCAR? Do they get federal money?

NASCAR now says that a noose was found in Bubba Wallace's garage at Talladega. Bubba is the circuits only black driver. He is the driver of the famous #43 car owned by Richard Petty.

I don’t know much about NASCAR....pretty much nothing really.
I would assume that access to a driver’s garage is pretty limited though, right? Probably lots of cameras too. Shouldn’t this be pretty easy to figure out who did it? I mean, shouldn’t they know right away? Or is security pretty relaxed with few (if any cameras)? |

Just horrible for Bubba.
Unfortunately the only real way to get these idiots to stop displaying these symbols of hate are to criminalize it. That will only test our limits of free speech though. Criminalizing displaying hateful symbolism is a very effective way of dealing with that issue. Germany has been very effective with dealing on this issue with it's Nazi past. Should hate speech be protected under free speech? If not, what is the threshold for it to be deemed a crime? |

I have been in the garage areas during races. Specifically Talladega and Atlanta garages. You have to have pass that allows you access to those areas. Talladega is a big area but there is cameras in it's garage areas , not to mention the network cameras running around. Whether they were able to pick anything up will be interesting to see. |

Again, I know zero about NASCAR. I would assume that security to the garages would be pretty tight, so that 1) shit doesn’t get stolen and 2) no one can tamper. Again, just assumptions on my part. Whoever did this seems like an absolute moron in addition to being a piece of shit. If you’re trusted enough to get access then I would assume you know there are cameras. You would think that person would know their career in NASCAR (or whatever else) is done forever once they get caught. |

My gut feeling is this seems too perfect to be true. I'm not ruling out that it's staged. Another possible psychological attack on citizens to inflame racial tensions.

It certainly couldn’t be that there are racist pieces of shit in Alabama who are upset about what NASCAR did. That makes too much sense.
